re: The 'Real' Fans

Well, I do believe that it's easy to have higher expectations these days, of course, and that it makes it easier to complain when we fail to meet those expectations. I remember feeling that the year was a success when we cracked the top 10. In the bad years, I remember being excited when we beat a highly-ranked opponent. Now, we are the top, and it's natural to complain when we come so close. But it's also easy to remember what it was like back then. We should just be happy to be so good now, though.

Because if you were rooting for a different team then to only now be rooting for LSU when they are good then you are NOT a real fan.

You don't have to be sorry. And for those people, you are right, they aren't great fans. They don't know/care about LSU history. But those aren't even the fans I started this thread about. I don't care for fairweathers, but they do play a key roll in merch sales for our program

I'm 23. I've been an LSU fan since birth. I don't remember much of the early 90's teams, but I do remember watching all the games with my dad and older brother. I remember my brother always asking my dad why we weren't winning

I remember 97 when we knocked off Florida then ended up at the Indy bowl in my home town but couldn't get tickets. I loved that sweet revenge on ND, and I loved 2003 when my dad said he never thought he'd see an LSU national championship in his lifetime.

It's not my fault I wasn't born earlier than I was and it doesn't make me less of a fan. Any Tiger fan should be proud of where this program is today.

I didn't grow up rooting for LSU. I grew up rooting for Texas, grew up in Texas, my dad and grandpa and great-grandpa plus aunts and uncles all went to Texas. I chose to attend LSU because I wanted to go somewhere different with a big sports program. I am now an alum, am I not a real fan?
