This is true, and at the end of the day there isn't anything they can do about someone not taking off their hat.

On the other hand, there isn't anything the person not taking off their hat can do about other people having certain opinions about them either.

So true JT... Because people in the military don't value such things as showing respect for the flag and their country.

Get serious man... Yeah, it would have pissed them off to behold such disrespect for their flag and country.

That's because they are not fighting for their names or recognition. They fight for us.

Saluting the flag and being respectful just a small form of gratitude for what they've done

So, you have received no benefit from this country, because wouldn't the very basic form of grattitude be in taking your hat off as a sign of respect?

I don't know...I'm still trying to figure out how taking off my hat is a sign of respect. Strangely I feel just as indebted to our soldiers with my hat on as I do with it off.

Some do, some don't. I have no idea what % care about people wearing hats. And neither do you.

I think they would have been happy just to have the chance to be at that game enjoying their lives.

The problem with many of you is that you fail to realize that people will hold different beliefs and yes, you have the right to disagree, but you DO NOT have the right to force those beliefs on others.

So, by being the stupid dumb drunk a-hole who verbally chastises someone or forcibly removes their cap for them at a game, congratulations, because you may as well live in a dictatorship.

And FWIW, when I wear a cap to games, I remove it. But don't give two shits if someone next to me doesn't. That's their right.

They fight for your freedom to be a shite

If they did indeed fight for my freedom to dissent, then how am I "being a shite" by celebrating the freedoms they fought for? You are contradicting yourself here in a big way. It's impossible that they fought for my freedom to keep my hat on, as you agree with, and for me to be somehow dishonoring their sacrifice by leaving my hat on.

you from behaving poorly

Really? What do I do for a living? What is my history of service? How old am I? What kind of relationships do I have with my family/community? Where do I live?

You know the answer to ZERO of these questions, yet because I argue a valid point against you you have jumped to unsubstantial conclusions about who I am. Truly amazing behavior if you're an adult.

When you go to a funeral, do you wear your hat?

Now granted, I've been to some funerals in Dinky Springs, and so I realize that all bets are off for many people in socially acceptably behavior, but do you really honestly think this is in good taste or shows respect for people that your hat is more important?

I get what you're saying, and you make a good point, but whether it's a song, or a prayer (which I get), what does a baseball cap have to do with anything?

It's a sign of respect a-hole...for the thousands and thousands that fought and died for what we have.

And, it's more important to you to evaluate the sign of respect itself rather than to just offer it knowing that, in fact, removing your hat is respectful.

Your personal opinion on whether wearing a hat is disrespectful is really not relevant. You are just too self centered to understand that.

First let me say I do remove my hat because that is what I was taught to do while growing up; however, as a veteran who thinks it shows disrespect if people don't, can you tell me why any military personell, police or even the color gaurd for that matter dont remove their hat's during the National Anthem?

I need to know none of this. You've told me all I need to know about yourself in your desire to keep your hat on. Nothing else matters at this point.

The problem is that the good people of this country have sat back and let clowns like you disrespect our country and its symbols for long enough. I honestly don't care what your childish reasons are for not honoring your country's traditions. I am however advising you that if you choose to rub your views in peoples' faces that you shouldn't be surprised when someone who lost a brother in Iraq or a dad in Vietnam decides to take serious issue with you.

And not all of them can... So we show respect for those who can't enjoy simple things like games, their families, and eating at their favorite restaurants... We take so much for granted because we are free and most people think they are entitled to whatever they want.

First of all it is a sign of respect because of socialization. That explains half the stuff we do as a Americans... there is no law that says to turn around in elevators, or to shake with your right hand.

Second, how is every person ignoring the person that posted the actual U.S. Code stating the LAW about removing your hat?!?!?!

Does having a relative that died in a war make your opinion more valid?

The problem comes when people advocate (and sometimes actually do) forcibly removing someones hat. That is unacceptable and should be grounds for battery.

So are you protesting by not removing your hat? That's how I take. You're free to protest but don't be a douche and act like it's something else.

If you're by me you'll probably take it off. I can't imagine a good reason to leave it on. If you have one let's hear it commie.
