He's not dumb at all.
Something just happens when he's in the heat of the battle that causes him to panic and make dumb decisions or something

He's actually a very smart kid IRL. I think he just panics in the game.

And I am always amazed how some just write players off with not at least giving the slightest regard that they can improve on their shortcomings with the right coaching. How many threads were written that Brandon Harris simply did not "fit" into the Miles/Cameron system. It was the "system" and not Harris' abilities. Well, all I'm saying is he'll get a shot at competing with a coach whose attribute is to create a system to fit his personnel. He's LSU's back-up so I'm sure Canada will be doing a lot of work with Harris. Not saying he'll beat out Etling to start.

Was in Green Bay for the Wisconsin game. Last pass was all I ever need to see about Harris. He makes dumb, stupid , incomprehensible decisions. That bus has left the station and we are not going back.

For his sake, I hope he spent the entire year watching and learning how Etling moves in the pocket. If he keeps dropping back 15 yards then he will never get good pass protection or be able to run an offense.

Sometimes I wonder why people want Harris to start so bad. He's not the better qb yet there is a thread about it daily.

He's an injury away from being the most proven QB left on the roster.

His body of work is what is keeping him on the sideline. Not sure what you think he has "proven" to date...

I don't know that we've seen Harris's potential. The guy hasn't had a competent QB coach since he's been here. Hopefully Canada can coach all of our QBs up and we can have a healthy QB competition in spring ball.

This is the first post I've seen who knows what their talking about!!!

People can say what they want about accuracy, mental capacity, etc.... But CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHO HAS BEEN COACHING THE QB'S UP???? If you don't have a QB COACH/Offensive coordinator who won't just show him how to RUN the offense but will also develop his mechanics, then in most cases you have Brandon Harris.... One question.... Why has Florida State put several QB'S in the first round of the NFL draft? And who was the QB coach/offensive coordinator the last time LSU had a first round QB selection?

As has been pointed out in other threads like this, why spend time teaching a senior how to complete 5 yard passes when he will have to leave after next year.

Spend that time, and scholarship, on someone younger who will be around longer. And who has a better chance of contributing to LSU football.

I have nothing against Harris. I actually wanted and had high hopes as him starting this year as I thought he handled his job very well last year until he got hurt. The thing is though, I believe he's done at LSU and I really believe that all his problems are mental. The issue here is that will never get fixed because you either have it or you don't. Harris does not have it mentally and he's done. He can't handle the pressure a program like LSU puts on your shoulders. If you can't have a QB with composure then he will not survive SEC play.

We all saw what we had this year and I don't think Harris has any ceiling left. It is what it is.

put a pass rush on Harris and he panics. Can't throw short or intermediate routes, etc.,etc., etc. He done

I agree completely. Two of the all time best qb's, Manning and Brady have very average NFL arms. But their timing and accuracy, plus reading the defenses are as good as we have ever seen. Both have raised previously marginal NFL wide receivers to all pro levels.

While being smart is certainly an asset, it's how quickly information can be processed. Some smart qb's can't and some not so smart can. While to an extent it can be taught, some just don't have the ability to process what's going on with the defense quick enough to be a really elite qb

Etling is more of a dual threat than Harris, because Etling can run better than BH can pass.

We saw the same thing with Etling against better defenses as well. Harris was really bad this year. Like Jennings and Hatch bad. The thing is, Etling doesn't have the tools to be a great QB. He very well may succeed in Canada's offense being it doesn't seem to employ the deep ball. I want as many QB's as possible to compete for the job. Even if there is only a .00001% chance that Harris is able to realize his potential, I think it's worth having him on the roster one more year. What could it possibly harm?

I think anything is possible for Harris with fresh eyes of a new Coach, and a new approach. It was very obvious watching Harris that the kid was afraid to make a mistake, and just didn't look comfortable in that offense. I think the job will be wide open!
