LOL the speed trap sign is from a coonass that got lit-up there.

Lol no it isn't. It was put there by Robert Kite (RIP). The sign literally says "Paid for by Robert Kite"

Y'all getting hung up on the word coonass & it's meaning LOL. Technically you're correct I reckon but I'm from there and plenty of prominent business men drove trucks with a bumper plate of a coon pulling his tail showing his brown eye, saying "I'm proud to be a coon arse." Just my experience from growing up in Leesville, LA.

I mean that's not what you said at all but that's okay. We don't have to sensationalize every small town story with a bunch of extra fluff. Most people that live in or around small towns in LA know how they work lol

So am I. I'm actually looking at the sign as I type this

It's all good though

You don’t know what a Speed Trap is until you’ve traveled through BASKIN,La it’s 60 years in the making and home of Lainey Wilson, who was once quoted that the Speed Trap is more famous than she was.

Bruh 3 pages in and ain't no one mentioned Port Barre as a speed trap town? Got one there driving west on 190 years ago and after the cop handed me the ticket, he kind of hesitated, looked back in, and said, "If you pay the fine, it'll go down on your record as a non-moving violation."

49 in a 45, not sure if it's the same now as 20 years ago but it was the only stretch of 190 that went from 65 to 45 with no 55mph stretch in between - and the cop sat right at the 45 speed limit sign and lit you up if you passed it above 45. Bald-faced revenue stream instead of enforcement.

As for Rosepine, I have extended family from there. My maternal grandparents grew up in Rosepine during the Depression, got married there in 1941 just before WW2 then moved to Lake Charles. We go to Lewis Cemetery in Deridder every year on Easter weekend, and a few years ago went up to Rosepine to try to find the old farm but we couldn't find it. My mom lights up about Ethan Frey because of the Rosepine connection.

There really is something special about small town Louisiana. I miss it sometimes.

I take 190 to BR every weekend during football season. Krotz Springs is where it gets real trappy lol the cop either sits at the base or the bridge going west or eastbound right when you get into KS. I'm usually stopping at Billy's so I keep my head on a swivel lol

There is nothing like it. I'm from here, graduated from Rosepine and I've been back 4 years now after graduating from LSU.

I do radio for Vernon, Beauregard and Allen Parish High School sports. Seeing how much stuff like this means to these communities is one of my favorite parts of the job. There really is nothing like the support from the smaller communities. I've been to every high school state tournament/championship and the schools that bring the most fans are almost always the smaller classes/divisions.

I've been able to call 3 of my school's state championships since I've been back (Ethan's senior year of baseball and back to back girls' basketball championships) and it'll be something I'll cherish forever.

Nohing compares to the fan support from the smaller schools.

We moved to Rosepine right before I started 7th grade. As I said on the first page, we moved away in November of my sophomore year (1982). I can honestly say that those were 3+ of the best years of my life.
