The PJ Woodland climb sounds familiar

PJ has been running with the 1’s in practice and by all accounts, has been very impressive. He was a 3 star coming out of high school and flew a bit under the radar. Sounds a lot like Jalen Mills coming in from Desoto as a 3 star guy but working his way into a starter as a true freshman. If PJ can get stronger and gain some weight this summer, he seems like a candidate to be on the field a lot.

I saw where Woodland ran Lacey out of bounds before he could make a catch on a perfect ball from Nuss. This is encouraging

PJ is going to be great for us. Most underrated recruit.

Went to high school with him. Great kid and was a stud playing both ways his junior and senior years

Despite being out next door neighbor, it's historically been very difficult for LSU to land blue chip prospects from Mississippi.
This Woodland guy is going to make Lane wince, which pleases me.

If this freshman could force him out of bounds on a "perfectly thrown ball" (would need to see that to confirm), it sounds like he's already strong enough

He's strong but is very light, 170 tops. My stepson plays on the 15u 7 on 7 team he played for last year, Coastline Stars. The 15u team is ranked 15th in the nation and both 18u and 15u will be competing in San Antonio for the nationals pylon event next weekend.
Based on what I've seen from the kid over the last few years he's a better WR than DB. He's just a really good all around athlete.
OGHS will have alot of future stars coming through the ranks in the next few years.
Hoping CJ Bailey and crew can steer them LSUs way. He took a group 2 weeks ago to Lsu. Before our tournament in Mandeville that we won. Had to throw in a brag about Coastline and my stepson while commenting on PJ

His 3 star rating is odd when you see this:
It seems the rating services really missed on him.

P.J. Woodland of Oak Grove (Hattiesburg) is the 2023 MaxPreps Mississippi High School Football Player of the Year. The 6-foot, 165-pound senior cornerback/wide receiver led the Warriors to a 12-1 record and Class 7A state title.
Woodland was a huge factor on both sides of the ball for the Warriors. Offensively, he had over 1,400 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns, averaging over 20 yards per catch. Defensively, he recorded 50 tackles and five interceptions with a pair of pick-sixes.
Coaches in Mississippi picked Woodland as the Class 7A Defensive Player of the Year.
It seems the rating services really missed on him.

PJ Woodland has been the biggest sleeper in the class on the recruiting board since before he committed to us. This isn’t much of a surprise. If it weren’t for his size he wouldn’t have been a 3 star.

I would assume because of size… it’s crazy how many great athletes get looked over bc they aren’t 185lbs their senior year in high school.

Woodland is legit.
