Calling Army a “college team” is a real stretch IMO.. is it an NFL team or somehting else, well no… but it’s not really accurate to describe the armed forces, military academies etc as ‘college teams.’

Joe Ferguson won a state championship
was at every game his junior and senior years, used to shag balls when he would practice PATs after practice, saw him at AT&T stadium in a suite a couple of years ago (our daughters worked together,) he remembered the kid shagging balls, not so much me

Frank Broyles said whichever school got Joe Ferguson would win the national title.
He was wrong.
And Charlie Mac won 9 games 7 or 8 years in a row, playing 10 or 11 game schedules, plus a bowl game.

After 1962, when was Charlie Mac's product ever worth a d*m?
I would say in the 5 years from 1969-1973 - Won 9 games in each of those years on the first 1969 was a 10 game schedule and the next 4 - 11 game schedules. I'd say that was worth a damm.
But he lost the season finale to Tulane in 73 we had no business losing to and we really didn't beat a team a really good team after that. As I said I don't think recruiting was a strength of Mac and with Corbett and Mckieithen out of the picture as recruitiers by that time, LSU fell behind and we honestly probably waited too long to move on from Mac.
