re: The main reason LSU lost the game

quote:They were fine, but they play so haphazardly that they aren't used to playing and the team isn't used to playing with them. The early season is usually the time to experiment with different combinations, but Jones apparently uses it to build up the minutes logged by his best players and let freshmen like Blakeney jack up 15 shots a game.
We have no chance of winning when either Darcy or Elbert are on the floor for the majority of the game. Both players look lost when they are on the court.

If Victor is in foul trouble go small + Simmons
Go small? Are you serious? We already can't get rebounds then you want a guy like TQ to guard a 6'10 PF? ok.

they lost the game because they could not make a layup

The expectation was high thinking LSU will have 3 dynamic/play maker freshmen but that turned out to be false.

I agree. In some ways Victor being out is worst than Simmons being out.
Epps can at least fill in (just a small bit) for Simmons when he's out.
But, we have absolutely nobody who can replace Victor. Plus last night was a struggle for CV as well. You had a true C in Davis pushing around a PF in Victor pretty easily. But, at least CV was giving you some offense.
Malone tries so hard, but he just simply isn't a good basketball player.
Robinson is so slow and awkward it hurts to watch at times.
When you see both ER and DM trying to be scorers, we're screwed.
Just as important this team can't afford for multiple Guards to play badly. In the 2nd half, TQ was pretty terrible. Grey was bad all game long. Then throw in that nobody could make a basket from the outside and you are going to lose.
This team had a chance though. Tyler Davis was a monster last night, as was Jones. But, House did nothing. This game should have gone to the wire, if only we could have made some open looks. We simply didn't and by missing we allowed TAM to get the momentum, game over.
Saturday will tell the story. Win that, we're still alright. Lose that, we can only hope for an NIT.

We all know you gus, you're probably a 70 year old man who is constantly bashing every post on this site while you eat your potato chips and take your daily meds.

Les miles still running the ball wit 9 men in the box

19 turnovers=19 trips down the court that you get NOTHING!

Agreed. But Jones is still mediocre at best.
Ultimately LSU did lose because of Johnny Jones. The buck starts and stops with him. Any other SEC coach with this team has a better record than 11-7 right now....period.

Lets stop kidding ourselves with all the "Johnny Jones is a bad coach", "TQ is awful"
TQ was leading scorer last night for LSU. Josh Gray put up a bagel as a starter... You sir are an idiot.

He told Johnny to pitch it to Fornette!!! The hell with dribbling...just let him run up and down the court.

12-6 in a mediocre SEC gonna give the team the breaks it needs to be even considered for Post Season ?
12-6 in the SEC will get LSU into a home game in the NIT.

Unless big Ben can develop a mid range jump shot, we are going to see teams just sagging on him more and more. Hard to drive when the guy guarding you is standing 5 feet from the basket.

Because they scored more points than we did brotien shake

TQ played great for a stretch in the first half.
In the 2nd half he was a pretty big reason we lost. He took some really ill-advised shots and some bad turnovers.
In his defense, I think he was playing on a bad ankle for part of the 2nd half.
Gray was just flat awful most of the night.
Didn't help that AB, JP, nor KH could make a shot either.

More concerning to me was how we lost and how bad we looked doing it. I hope we can play well at Bama and pull that one out cause I need to get the bad taste of that game against A&M out. That was ugly and nearly unwatchable.
