D line absolutely feasted last night. Ojulari is a man amongst boys. O line was surprisingly good last night as well. Our two freshman tackles held their own and showed they would be really good for years to come.

Can’t help but be excited by the progress we’ve made since the Florida state game. Team success is driven through production in the trenches, and this is an encouraging step towards competing.

Honestly I think every group but special teams played well and showed significant improvement last night

It’s great to see our young tackles play so well.

They did very well well as did the secondary on deeper and sideline routes.

What is still concerning is the amount of guys running wide open over the middle. State dropped quite a few passes over the middle that would have been big gains.

Defense was laying the wood last night.recievers were thinking twice about it.
Not to mention QB was getting hit constantly.
Great to see the Defense hitting hard like lsu Defense use to

kick coverage was the big bugaboo on special teams. and receiving. kicking game itself is better.

I may have PTSD but it looked like a few field goals almost got blocked idk. Did anyone else see this?

Got their asses kicked in first half. Turned it around in second half.

This seemed to get better as the game progressed. But yeah, early on wr’s were just running around with no defender near them. I was thinking this is an interesting defensive scheme that just doesn’t cover anyone.

Considering that State's specialty is getting guys open on short passing routes over the middle, I think LSU's D did a really good job. There were definitely a few guys that were open over the middle (one on a 3rd down) where they dropped a few passes or the QB misfired, but the middle really closed as it got late in the game and LSU started making anticipation plays on D over the middle. The tackling was excellent too in the 2nd half after they caught just about every pass. Considering how we looked on 3rd down against FSU with their passing attack, it seemed like a dramatic improvement.

You can see that the players are now comfortable enough with the defensive scheme to disguise looks and coverages and to anticipate plays and get to the ball quicker. That’s especially important when playing zone. It’s easy to lose aggression when playing a system that makes you read and react, and I think we saw a lot of that vs FSU. Most of this fanbase mistook that for a scheme issue, but it was really just problems with execution and growing pains with a new defense. Now we are seeing the execution come around.

I thought the OL did well the whole game. Looked like Daniels had time to throw on every drop back but couldn't find open receivers. I always try to see the positives and actually liked what I saw. :)
