The point is that Saban built it. Miles sustained it. Saying Saban built LSU has nothing to do with a love affair with him or anything else. It's the truth and something I can admit.

its not the truth though....thats the point. you could say he "resurrected" it...but Saban did not "build" LSU. no matter how hard you want to believe it.

Miles has only won more games because he has been here longer.

thats why i like to go by win %. also...look at the coaches in the SEC when Saban was here compared to now. its not even close

is 13-1 a problem? and in one sentence restate your theory

13-1 is not a problem in and of itself, but your framing of the question ignores the problem of the performance in the BS BCSNCG. LM had many days to devise a plan to win the game or at least give LSU a chance to win. Nothing of what I saw suggested that LM had any clue how to win that game. So the 1 in this case is like mixing a scoop of dogsh*t into a gallon of ice cream. Sure, it is still mostly ice cream, but it stinks and no one wants any of it. I do not have a want to see that kind of in game performance again. I fear that with mad LM, I will.

The fact that it has been 7 years since Saban and the program has had more success and won at a higher percentage since he left would mean that the lsu program is not only sustained but has been taken to a higher level since Saban has been here.

Saban built the LSU football program you see today. It doest mean he invented LSU football. WHile this statement may be true about more wins and better % I dont think this small contrast is enough to constitute a "new level." both have one title and Miles got their again with a couple more years.

But he did devise a plan to beat Oregon. He did devise a plan to beat WV. He did devise a plan to beat Bama the first time. He did devise a plan to beat Ark. He did devise a plan to beat Ga. He did devise a plan that won the division and the conference. So....

i said he was a great coach and i give him credit for "resurrecting" the program. im not willing to give him the ole rusty trombone like some on here. Saban built the program you saw in '04....Miles built the program you see today. pretty simple.

btw...i hate all alabama coaches

You truly have to ride the short bus to not agree with this.

Not to harp on the obvious, but seeing the origin of the idea - albeit in long form - doesn't explain it. And I did read the OP. Twice.

That's not being intellectually honest. That's picking and choosing what you blame Miles for and what you give him credit for based on what you want to prove. You can't have it both ways.

Well, I guess I'm glad it was McElwain that beat us this year.

You ever plan on describing the differences between that "post-Saban collection of philosophies" and the "unified all *LM philosophy, or scheme?"
