EXACTLY !! - Why can't people see this !! 9 wins means you really went 3-3, which is Ole Miss standards of success, not LSU's level/type! Then factor in the heroics required for the Moo State, UGA and Arky games, and you are perilousily close to total devastation !!

National rankings are good for marketing, but SEC record and, more importantly, division/conference/national championships are all that matter.

I can't agree that those are "all that matter", but certainly they are high up on the food chain of what matters.

All of us have our own ideas on what matters. If one can only be happy with "division/conference/national championships", so be it. Since we have 10 SEC title in like 80 yrs and 6 west or SEC title in the 20 yrs there has been a west, I have decided I have to find other things that matter besides championships of some kind or I will be a mighty unhappy camper most years...but that's just me, different strokes for different folks.

Certainly winning titles is very important to LSU and we need to grab one soon for the money we are putting out.

2008 8-5, not ranked, Chic-fil bowl.
2009 9-3/10-3, ranked 17-14 possible top 10, Cap 1 bowl.

So then you agree that Miles 17-8 is no where near in the same class as Saban 24-1. Just wanted to clear that up.

end of hijack.

19-5 SEC

v.

8-8 SEC

That's clear as day.

Does it mean it's over, pack your bags? No, but it is certainly a trend that needs to get corrected next year. Another 3-5 or 5-3 SEC record won't do it IMO.

As much of a travesty as last years defensive debacle. He should be outright embarrassed to sport such a poor 100's-ranked offense with sick athletes like Shep, Randle, JoJo, Toliver,Dickson, and the host of RB's we carried on the roster for the majority of the year.

Not much different than in 2006, when Jimbo's offense, chock full of NFL talent, managed to choke in two games and needed the defense to bail it out of some others. Most talented team in LSU history, and Miles delivers a 2-loss season.

The state of La. has been in decline since the 1870s.

UGA, Auburn as wins without noticing that we got completely lucky is outrageous.

Ok....using your thought process, we only loss to Bama, Fla, and Miss cause we were unlucky.

Damnit people, Florida was not a competitive game.

It wasnt as close as the score indicates.

Yes, our record is better than it was last year, but we also have an easier schedule than we did last year.

Probably, and it's tough to get amped about the extra wins when the team played so ugly all year.

I'll even go as far as to say a lot of our games were rather boring to watch this year.

Except for the Bama and AU games, yeah. A boring team that can't dominate and consistently plays sloppy.

Well said. The recent conference record is not acceptable for LSU. We are not Moo State or Ole Miss.

Except that did not happen in 2001 either. And LSU won the SEC Championship with a 5-3 SEC record. Losses to Florida, Tennessee & Ole Miss.

8-8 in the SEC over the last two years is not good.

LSU improved from the "Down" year of 2008, by 2 SEC Wins, to the "UP" year of 2009.

*When was the last time the SEC had the #1 and #2 teams in the Nation on LSU's schedule?

Sonnyboy, I don't give a damn if a game ends 3-2 as long as LSU has the 3. Neither should anyone else. Using "boring" as a criteria for judgement of a team is the refuge of the stupid.

9-3 is 9-3 and if you deny that you are a stupid motherfricker. Even if you DO run the damn board.

LSU recruited the top class in America last year and is in the top five this year.

That's the point. If LSU is getting top 5 talent every year, why are we 8-9 in the last 17 SEC games?

So, for all the LSU is in decline assholes...if you don't go back more then 2 years and use Miles record of 10 plus win seasons, top 5 rankings, Bowls, and a NC then your basis for decline is completely retarded!

What is the definition of a decline? Not doing as well as the past? Two years and 8-8 in the SEC later, plus 1 win in the month of November is not exactly the marker of a program on the rise. The real assholes are those who are trying to convince the educated otherwise.
