guys we were playing a team on a 14-game losing streak...i would like to hope our defense looks more improved than giving up more yards in a single game than we allowed the entire season last year

UW is a bowl team this year. Let's not forget that school has two NC's as well. Alot of pride there. They wanted that game bad. LSU really did have alot against us playing this game. JJ is only starting his third game. GC kept it simple to protect him and he did well.
My problem was our DE's. No containment, No pressure and bad angles on the rush when they did get in. This makes it awful easy for a GREAT QB like Locker to pick apart a good secondary.
I was upset last night and after the replay feel a bit better. The DE's must play better though if we compete in the SEC.
Bottom line is my Tigers are playing for the next few months, and it's great. I don't forget I am a fan, win or lose. I don't want to be too spoiled. We all have to stay hungry.

If this had been last years defense, we would have lost IMO

UW is definitely a bowl team this year. If people think that this UW team is the same team as last year, they are sadly mistaken. Jake Locker, I'm sure is going to eat up even USC's defense when it is all said and done. I'm not sure UW will win that game, but I know that USC will respect the Huskies when the game if finished. With that said, I know that LSU played a quality opponent and will continue to improve.

Another thing to remeber is we were playing an unfimilar opponent. We did not know which offence UW was going to run. From what i have heard LSU had to study to differant offenses as they figure a UW would use a combonation of the USC offence and Previous years offense! I think people expected another missisppi st game like in 07, but remember we play miss st every year and know what there offense does(this year will be more difficult with there new coach but we will have 3 weeks of film). And remeber in 03 the arizona game was game #2 not opening week so we had ULM to get our feet wet.

If this team had Glen Dorsey and Leron Landry, i'd be predicting a return to the NC game. unfortuneatly, guys like that don't come around very often. its amazing how one guy on the DL can influence games. Remember Henry Thomas, Chad Lavalais, Ron Estay even.

UW had an advantage by not having to worry about school since they don't start class for a few weeks
The knuckleheads on ESPN made the same observation.

I agree. Our LB's looked pretty good for the most part. I liked what I saw from Coleman. Our CB's gave up some passes, but seemed to be in pretty good coverage.
My biggest concern was poor tackling, but I think that can be corrected.
Our DE's just didn't do much. Alem was taking himself out of the play and creating huge running lanes.
The good thing is that most of what was wrong can be fixed. Let's see what happens this week.

I didn't see the game or the rerun, but looking at the box-score, the stats say UW should have won.
I cannot believe a LSU defense allows 478 to the Huskies. The offense generated a respectable 321, albeit against a Pac-10 team.
Again, I didn't see the game, but I am worried from a stats standpoint.

RIGHT! Someone at Tiger HQ better get real, and FAST. Screw that Negatiger BS. Watch the game and face facts.
1. We were killed in time of possession, based on the D-Line being manhandled. No joke. Think Washington has a better O-Line than Bama?
2. How many defensive stops were ALMOST made only to watch the Huskie QB outrun, easily, a slow end or tackle? Why wasn't there a backer on him! Did Chavis think that Raheem Alem was going to will himself to 4.5 speed!
3. Did anyone notice the overall look of awkwardness, the "about to fumble the handoff" nature of Jordan Jefferson? Does it not look like the most basic component of running the ball, the QB-RB handoff is so awkward it slows our plays down?
4. Other than seeing the TV cuts to Chavis looking old and tired (the time change must have KILLED him) on the sidelines, it looked like last years team on D.
My biggest concern is that we didn't look ANY better on D, and those that think we will be OK by getting in to scoring battles better pray hard, cause I don't see it. Who would have thought that Washington had the more impressive QB, RB and Receiver!

Remember Oregon State stunning USC.
USC outranked OSU at every position - players, personnel, coaches, walk-ons, equipment, cheerleaders , weather and food and still LOST.
shite happens - no one assumed that USC was doomed based on that one game.
I am not claiming that we are not doomed or not - but don't use this one game as a sample set.

LSU walked into a buzzsaw came out with a win. UW was recharged, angry and talented. It could have bee worse. In the end, UW will win 8-9 games and this will be looked at as a quality win.

What time and channel does it come on again?

I saw it this way.........after surrendering a TD on the game's first possession, LSU outscored Washington 31-9 during the next 54 minutes.

I agree . We had to replace several key d-linemen ,This was not a practice game like many of the top 10 teams (including Fla.) played . Ole Miss struggled with a very poor Memphis team and finally pulled away late in the game to make it look like a blowout. I want to see serious improvement for the Vandy game especially on defense (d-line ). Pellini 's scheme took several games his first year to kick in ,so I am looking for the same progress from Chavis this year. If this happens I think we can have a very good team this year and next year be in position for a serious run at the National Championship.

I thought the same thing, but part of my being pissed off was the poor ESPN crew and the camera that never was focused or still and the missing of Toliver's first touchdown. Add a better crew, a better camera and some attention to the actual game and it wasn't so bad.

The fist 10 minutes of the game were dreadful on defense. The offense showed flashes and the Cutrera play was great. I will admit in the 2nd half the defense did a much better job, and when they opened up the offense a bit we moved the ball down the field. The last UW drive for a TD was a disgrace.

I agree.
We didn't play well, and still won the game. Do I think fans should be critical after this loss? Yes. But not to the extreme.
Yes, LSU gave up nearly 500 YARDS in TOTAL OFFENSE!!! The most of all the games last year!!
BUT HOW MANY POINTS?? 23
FREAKIN TROY scored more points on us than that last year!!
7 of those points came at garbage time at the end of the game.
Our Defense ALSO scored a TD!
Do I think this Defense has alot of work to do? Yes.
Do I think they will be much improved from last year's D? Yes.
