The fallacy of the SEC ruling is based on amateur status. Hypocrisy

In reality college athletes are being paid to play. You can disguise it as NIL if you want but Athletes are being compensated for their skills, whether you call it NIL contracts or professional contracts.
Amateur status should no longer apply. Its hypocrisy. Just base their eligibility to play based on time. 5 for 5 seems fair. not based on whether they signed a contract with a pro team.
They sign a compensation contract with the universities to share revenue and with sponsors who compensate them for NIL.
Isnt a professional contract similar? Sharing the revenue of that professional team?

This right here. That IS the point. A team has a much bigger advantage playing 24-26yr olds than it does playing a 22yr old that got cut from NFL camp. This should be an age eligibility thing and nothing more. And please stop with the "pro" "amateur" BS. College athletes are being paid to play sports. That IS the definition of a "pro". And the fact that after this year this is all taken care of is what makes all of the much to do about nothing. Players will be aware of the rules moving forward and will have no legitimate reason to sue. Period.
