Les Miles is Larry Coker. If les miles followed Dinardo he would have been fired in 3 years
Not even close. Undefeated 2011 regular season. We’re NC and considered one of greatest teams of all time if they don’t give Bama a do-over.

Did you know Miles had to be talked into getting T Holiday? Miles did not want him.
I heard bits and pieces about it, if I remember correctly he was solely focused on getting B. Brown despite what LP told him.

Not shitting on miles at all. I will always have the utmost respect for the man. I think he's a wonderful human being. Just pointing out that I thought the staff now is doing a better job at developing talent.

Yea if that makes your feels better buddy.

With CEO, these underrated and mid level recruits are now superstars in college football, 2 star and 3star guys are balling out.
Les deserves a ton of criticism for failing to adapt/overcome on the offensive side of the ball, but this is simply hogwash.
We've always had underrated guys ball out under each staff.

We had national title caliber talent on alot of his teams, but he mismanaged them and we underachieved big-time. huge difference between miles and O.
Miles certainly cost us one national championship (2011), and some could make the argument that if he could've recruited and developed a good QB, and changed the offense, we could have had another one as well with Jarvis and OBJ as juniors.

Miles was an arrogant pig headed fool. He wasn't a dumb man but let his arrogance of trying to show the fanbase/ elite opposing teams his way was good enough lead him out the door
Remember when he actually had the gall to say "this is my team", (as if the last 100 years of LSU football and it's fans don't matter) and "we will block out the noise on the perimeter", (meaning fans being unhappy, as if we are nothing to him). Meanwhile the fricking fans paid your salary Les. In the end, his own arrogance did him in.

But never think the low expectations going into last season were at the feet of anyone but him.
Context matters. The roster management by Miles caused serious depth issues at certain positions. I never felt said low expectations were of his own doing. When you lose a D lineman in the Miss State game and the coaches are looking at each other because they don't know who is going in next was a problem created before he was the HC.

and even with all that in 2013 we still finished only 7th in the SEC in total offense

LOL, Is that true?
How Chase chose the Tigers
I know all coaches have recruiting misses but we don't have one of the best wideouts in our history if Les is still the coach.

This is true. Les Miles NEVER developed NFL talent while here.
That decade or so where he had the most players in the NFL never happened.
All those Juniors that developed quickly and left for the NFL never happened either.
None of it.
Most wins in LSU history for a HC?
That didn't happen either.

Not sure how anyone could actually think this being he got mettenberger just 2 years before his firing.
Extremely similar situations
We landed Mett after the 2010 season. He was holding a clipboard during 21-0 watching JJ play like garbage.
Mett GRADUATED 3 years before Les was fired. Not at all relevant to getting Joe in 2018. Joe wouldn't have sniffed LSU with Les being the coach

quote:It’s mind boggling. Yes, Les won us a NC (with 2 loses) and had some good years, but he squandered more talent than any coach in America. No doubt.
I'm not sure why we still have Miles apologists on this board.

Unfrickingbelievable.
quote:Typical Les Miles.
Early in his recruitment, LSU coach Les Miles asked Chase if he’d like to be a Tiger. A Tigers defensive back, that is.
Chase was flabbergasted.
“That was unheard of. Out of every offer I had, no coach had mentioned playing DB,” Chase said. “To sit there and listen to two coaches say that I’m going to move to defense — I don’t even have any film on defense. I don’t know if I can backpedal. I was in total shock that someone would tell me to play defense and not know what I could do on defense. I don’t even know what I can do on defense.”

Les has this team lose to Texas, Florida, auburn, Alabama, and possibly A&M.
Someone tell me I’m wrong
ETA: this team doesn’t have joe burrow with Les here
