He will be;
1) one of the most recognizable voices in CFB history;right up there with Bear Bryant, Bowden, and Keith Jackson. His "geaux Tigers" is better than Keith Jackson's "whoa Nellie."

2) perhaps the greatest comeback as a HC ever. His record at OM was Curley-ish. And he just engineered one of the greatest teams in CFB history.

3) one of the most beloved coaches ever. It seems rare that a native son wins big in his home state. I would guess Ohio has had some but I doubt there's many.

As long as he keeps winning, sure.

If 2019 was a fluke, then no he won't be mentioned in the same breath as those other two.

Our team was really well coached and prepared in 2018. I know you can’t exclude Bama but in every other game we were ready to play and a very fundamentally sound football team the entire season. Save getting completely screwed in Aggie land he was the coach of the year in the sec that year.

There are a few things Coach O will continue to do;

He will continue to get top recruits.

He will continue to hire top staff.

These two items are the ingredients to continue winning.

Coach O doesn't have to win another NC. He'll be beloved by many college football fans the country over. He's a great man. That he was a son of Louisiana and overcame a lot of stuff in his life, I think everybody will always hold him in high regard like any of the other legendary coaches. Very proud of him and what he means to us.

I've said it before and I believe that Nick Saban is a good man and will always be thought of as the GOAT, he did not do a lot to make himself liked by others. He probably doesn't care which is fine but there's a lot to be said for a man who is a man of the people (I don't mean this in a manipulative sort of way like a lot of liberals pretend to do but more of a genuine person).

I think the point of the OP was Coach O's iconic status more than just accomplishment. What he achieved is accentuated by the uniqueness of his personality.

Even Les had that to an extent with the "Mad Hatter", "Riverboat gambler" moniker. The grass eating, kooky style made him a unique figure as well. As frustrating as some of his hardheadedness was I will always have fond memories of the Miles tenure.

Not trying to be critical of Les (he was a great hire), but even at his peak, he didn't approach Ed now and Les began to accumulate more-n-more negative baggage with each passing season.
