What about Archie Manning? That would have been nice.

At the time, I thought it was going to be Brock Berlin. Well, until I saw how his career at Florida and Miami panned out.

So, it appears, the top 5, in this order;

1 Peyton Manning
2 Marshall Faulk
3 RG3
4 Warrick Dunn
5 Eli Manning

I didn't realize LSU was ever in the running with RG3? I thought Stanford was the only other school that had a shot?

Peyton Manning, he wanted to come to LSU but it was Josh LSU wanted at the time.

Marshall Faulk he would have come to LSU if Hallman would have let him try out at rb.

Ed Reed that would have been nice...

Vince Young was 100% coming to LSU until Saban wanted him to switch to wr.

Wasn't Marshall Faulk though really under the radar or not highly touted?

I remember going to watch SC play San Diego State in 1992 at the Murph and wondering..."who the hell is this guy?" He ran all over USC that day as a sophomore for over 220 yards and a couple of TDs.

It's probably a good thing he didn't get gobbled up by a big time SEC program in the 90's considering Marshall later said he was looking to take money in college.

RG3 or Tyler Wilson.

Both would have crawled to BR to play here.

Other commits we received that year that were possible QBs, the kid that went to Rutgers who wound up a TE, Darron Thomas, and Jordan Jefferson.

We got commitments from those 3, but Tyler Wilson nor RG3 were good enough to warrant a scholarship offer? SMH.

Meh. He was okay at USC, sucks in the nfl, meanwhile we had some sick RBs that would have taken carries away from him.

Warrick Dunn. At that time at least

Yup. Sure felt that way at the time.

That's why landing Kevin Faulk was such a big deal.
