Somewhere Mike Miley and Paul Lyons deserve a little love.

In terms of the best, my vote goes to the QBs who managed the season well enough to win a NC, and only three have done that at LSU. Perhaps they were not "superstuds", but they had other intangibles that helped play a role in their team winning a NC.

Hard to compare one era to another (talent around him means a lot too) but here it goes.
1. bert jones
2. tommy hodson
3. jamarcus russell

Tyler

You lost me after that one. Any discussion about Herb Tyler being included with the greats at LSU is crazy

Herb Tyler was the best QB in LSU history at every aspect of the position except for one ... drop-back passing.

Yep, that's what I said in my post on the older thread on this subject: LINK.

I think Hodson is the obvious #1 pick. Who else made First-Team All-SEC all 4 years?

If you want to go old school with your pick...

Steve Van Buren > Tittle

If you've never seen film of Steve Van Buren at LSU, do yourself a favor and look it up!

If you truly want to go old school, you MUST go with Doc Fenton. LSU played on the road at Auburn in 1908, and either way, the winner would claim a national title. Despite being knocked unconscious by an Auburn fan during an attempted punt from my own endzone (that's how Auburn scored their only 2 points), I led my team to victory. A victory, that I might add, was much more impressive than anything Penn or Harvard accomplished that year.

AUBURN DELENDA EST!!!

... and VICTORY FOR L-S-U!!!

Rohan Davey = 3,000 yard season.

but was he that good, or was it because Josh Reed was the greatest college reciever ever?

When we make picks maybe we should remember who was catching the ball for those quarterbacks. Windell Davis, who Caught a lot of Hodson's passes, is abut the only WR that had similar talent as Reed,Henderson, Clayton, Bowe, Davis, and Doucet.

As an indication or how much Charlie Mac believed in the passing game, "during his 17 games at LSU, Bert Jones completed 52.6 percent of his passes for 3,225 yards and 28 touchdowns, which at the time was the most career passing yards and touchdowns of any quarterback in LSU history". That would be a good season for present day quarterbacks. What would a Jimbo or Crowton scheme have meant to Jones
In addition Jones, while he was being considered for the Hiesman, shared quarterbacking duties with Paul Lyons.
