The best LSU Defensive backfield of all time

I’ve been thinking about different units from the past. Defensive line, Offensive backfield, etc.
I go back to the 60’s with LSU football and believe the 2010 Team had the best overall group.
Corners
Morris Claiborne
Patrick Peterson
Ron Brooks
Tharold Simon
Safeties
Brandon Taylor
Tyrann Mathieu
Eric Reid
Craig Loston

You do realize that Brandon Taylor was a safety right?

2010 had to be the right answer

2011 was better.
Yes you lost Peterson but you had significant development from Claiborne and Mathieu which more than made up for that. Also tharold Simon was as good a most any corner we’ve had since 2011.

Agree. The names on 2010 were legendary, but the improvement in 2011 and the revelation of Mathieu was insane. People forget Tharold Simon but he was solid and contributed on the Seattle defense in the NFL for several years. Mo and Honeybadger in 2011 were so much better than in 2010 they actually improved the secondary that lost Zod. Crazy.

These DB groups are all ridiculous:
2003
Corey Webster

Randall Gay
Laron Landry
Jack Hunt
2007
Chevis Jackson
Jonathan Zenon
Chad Jones
Craig Steltz
Curtis Taylor
2011
Mo Claiborne
Tharold Simon
Tyrann Mathieu
Ron Brooks
Eric Reid
Brandon Taylor
2019
Derek Stingley
Kristian Fulton
Kary Vincent
Grant Delpit
Jacoby Stevens
2011 gets my vote.

Agree, '11 gets it. Mathieu is the difference maker. His presence alone greatly improves the ranking. '16 was beastly as well.

Tharold Simon and Jai Eugene were on that 2010 team too.
Basically 10 and 11 both had 8 dbs play in the nfl.
for reference, 2003 had 5.
2012 had 7
2016 had 4* ,for some reason they list Fulton as not playing in the nfl, although he played in like one game and missed the whole next season for lsu. So wonder if he should only count for 18 and 19?

2010 had 2 Thorpe Winners and the Bednarick winner and Heisman Candidate. I just went with their names and the roster.

Wow doesn't get anymore DBU than that.

Ron Brooks? Tharold Simon? Jesus, those guys are not in the top 20! LSU has had guys like Tre White, Willie Teal, Travis Daniels, Corey Webster, Kristian Fulton,Jimmy Britt, Mike Williams, Gino Daniels. At safety they had Jeffery Dale, Greg Jackson, Liffort Hobley, and Tommy Casanova, all of whom were better than Brandon Taylor and Craig Loston.
