It is; but they were down a game and came back on the road to take the series. Like it or not; they showed guts and that builds character.

[quote]For how long can I use it as an excuse is the question. Seriously[/quote
It's not an excuse it's a reason, but there is no reason to expect the team not to improve as we move forward.

If we don't that's on the coach.

It also builds confidence that you can do it in the SEC.

Excuses are "reasons". At some point though, you have to throw them out of the window. Freshman aren't expected to play like freshman anymore. And we don't have to pretend the transfers never played ball in their life. Just wondering when we get to that point as fans.

If they get a good home crowd at the box this weekend and take 2 of 3 from vandy it will be a HUGE momentum/confidence boost going forward
I'm praying

I think we are getting there now. Two road trips, one home stand and we should see things improving now.

I will be happy if we play in a regional.
Hosting is a tall order for this young team.

I'm not disagreeing with it. It's one of the reasons I think we should have had a more difficult OOC. We went into SEC completely unprepared and the coaches still looking for a set lineup 4 weeks into the SEC.

Inexperience is not a factor. You have true freshman all over the conference doing well. Face it, we have to many holes in the lineup. Pap, both Jordans, are too inconsistent.

One is leading the team in SEC BA and the other is leading the team in SEC OBP.

This makes no sense. Freshmen should be and are expected to play like freshmen until they are no longer freshmen. Anyone expecting a deep run into the post-season was foolishly deluding themselves with this team.

They are worse than I was imagining them being but you can't honestly say that you didn't see this being a possibility. Youve been around the sport too long and know too much about the game for that to be the case

I knew going into this season that all it would take was one starting pitcher going into a slump or going down with an injury for this to be a total rebuilding year. Unfortunately that pitcher is Lange so it hurts more.

But once again you will have to stop blaming youth next year because they'll be young all season this year. A regional appearance will be great. Hosting a regional will be far exceeding any and all expectations by me

Did you say that about Lange or Bregman or Nola (take your pick)? Those are the guys who are never expected to play like freshman. And i'm not even talking about them. The "regular" freshmen are expected to play like freshmen to start, but at some point have to shed that moniker and everyone (coaches most importantly) expects that to take place at some point in the season, especially those who play regularly. So who am I talking about? Gilbert and Duplantis... maybe Reid. We aren't so young. We play a few sophomores but no more than many other teams who are very successful. Does experience help? Of course... I said in this thread it's a legit description of this team. "Young" is not.

I don't pretend to know what will happen in the post season. I guessed at a 35-21 overall record. 15-15 in the SEC. I'm sticking to that for now.

Inexperience is playing 8 new starters in the batting order. It's more than just playing freshmen.

But it's mid season and three SEC series have been played. Rookies grow up, some faster than others.

Let's see what they do before we say there's no chance.

That's exactly what I'm saying. This team is not young. The fielders are inexperienced in SEC. But people act like they've never played ball before. Does Romero look like he's an inexperienced freshman?

When guys get to the majors their first year they are rookies. They've played baseball probably for 15 years, but they are relatively inexperienced compared to the guys they are playing against.

If you put a bunch of rookies on a MLB team you are going to struggle at first, but hopefully improve as time goes on.

The same thing applies to D1 baseball. experience is a plus even for JC kids. It is even more important for true freshman who not only have to face pitchers every time up that were better than 95% of the pitchers they faced in HS, but they aren't physically as strong as they need to be.

We started 8 new guys in the line up on opening night, and have been juggling things ever since trying to find the best combination.

It's mid season, we've played 30% of our SEC schedule and we have a home stand starting tonight.
If this team is going to improve from a sub 500 SEC team and if they are going to start playing better baseball its time to do it.

And Romero looks like an inexperienced JC player who didn't start playing catcher until his senior year of HS. Last year he only hit 6 homers and batted 321. The year before he hit 345 with 3 homers. The guy is just busting out really. It's not like he was busting down the fences at LSU E.
