It's no secret he performed well under expectations this year. Like the coaches said pre-season they thought of him as a future weekend guy. You don't want your future weekend guy (as in, this next season) struggling as bad as he did in weekday games and really never proving himself to pitch on the weekends. He was a 15th round pick and yes, he needs to step up.

Yeah, u right.

Maybe when he is a Junior he can do something.

The kid was drafted in the 12th round, correct? So he has some talent, correct?

I don't expect him to go 9-0 with a 1.61 ERA as a Freshman, no one does. Well, other than that kid for NC State. But I did expect SOMETHING out of him as a Freshman.

Edward?

Id like to see Edward fit in somewhere. He is a solid hitter who has been hurt majority of the year. He is finally getting into season form and really playing well.

this time last year, we were doomed coming in to this year.

basically what i am trying to say, is people don't know shite about next years team, besides Katz, Rhymes, Ross and Jacoby. The rest is up in the air.

Too early to speculate. Nobody thought we'd be this good last year or the first 1/3rd this year.

What I'm trying to say is that a talented kid can make a big jump after not showing a whole lot as a freshman. A lot of times the big jump comes between freshman and sophomore seasons. I mean the kid pitched 16 innings all season. Yeah he was drafted. So was Joey B (how was his first season at LSU), Louis Coleman, Ryan Eades, Ty Ross, Austin Nola, etc.
Nick Rumbelow and Cotton threw 13 innings each last season. I'd say they've performed well this year.
Glenn has some talent. He'll have Dunn working with him again next season and I wouldn't be shocked at all if he was a weekend starter.

Ty Ross Freshman .223
Ty Ross Sophomore .309

Austin Nola Freshman .240
Austin Nola Sophomore .320

Louis Coleman Freshman 5-6 6.14
Louis Coleman Junior 8-1 1.95

Ryan Schmimpf Freshman .262
Ryan Schimpf Sophomore .320

Ryan Eades Freshamn 4.81
Ryan Eades Sophomore 3.55

I know this but I am saying he showed absolutely nothing except for one good inning in a mid week game. He should get more pt next year and possibly a spot in the rotation.

I think he will be an ace in two years, imo

whitson is not draft eligible. he will be sat, crawford sunday, depending if randall goes or not. pitching will be very good again and 6-9 hitters are freshman. Win Sec, i doubt it. We will compete for sure.

9 players got drafted

If Florida's rotation next year is made up of Randall, Whitson, and Crawford that would be an incredible 3.

minimal losses outside of Gausman
uh, that's huge. we lose the left side of the infield, the ace and a darn good closer. that could prove to be devastating. the people replacing them are completely unproven with the exception of nola the younger. even if jones slides over to short, who replaces him?

keep in mind our outfield stinks right now. if that's who is coming back, it's pretty mediocre.

hopefully, we can find acceptable replacements in the infield and even better players in the outfield. it will be difficult to replace nola the greater. he has been fantastic this year at short.

mccune and eades as starters is scary, in a bad way.

Eades was a non factor for much of last season and now look
look at what? he has really fallen off as the year has gone on. his last start was disastrous. cotton is much, much better right now.

there is no reason to talk about any outfielders being cut before next year
i hope edward and fields get cut because it means we have decent players coming in. i'm sure they're great guys and love their mothers and all but, as far as baseball goes, they have not been good. fields has potential but, he's really fading.

you and i must be watching a different edward. he's a liability on defense and far from great on offense. he might be decent at 1st if he was a power hitter.

not exactly. we knew the left side of the infield would be very good, if not great and we knew pitching was going to be very good as well as deep. outfield was a huge question mark and it still is. plus jones is solid and sometimes spectacular at 2nd. there are many more question marks next season. starting pitching outside of nola. outfield again. will the offense at least equal this year?
