Yes but not because of saying you suck, the SS chanted "F*** you Spurrier" that game and you could hear it on CBS.
Did everyone forget the Bama game in 2008. SS yelled "frick you Saban" before and after the game. It was very loud and clear when I watched the replay on CBS.

that isn't even clever.
This. They rarely are.
Then again, "Tiger Bait" (which we all love) is kinda weird...

The University is the reason the team exists. The university is comprised of students (athletes and non-athletes). No students = No university = No team
TAF merely funds the financial aspect of the team. Even without TAF, there would still be a team. We certainly wouldn't have nice facilities or the best team, but we'd still have a team nonetheless.
The students pay tuition to fund the educational aspects of it and receive the benefits of the University.
The Alumni and TAF fund any significant aspect of the football team.
Without TAF, the jerkoff students would be chanting their profanities in a cowfield.

Are you serious? Sooo, we should just go ahead and rename the team the Tiger Athletic Foundation Tigers instead of LSU Tigers right?

The only thing the football players have in common with "Joe student" is they walk on the same campus. That's it.

This is a giant crock of bullshite. Pre-TAF, there was a Tiger Stadium and an LSU football team.
Enough of the no TAF, no football team talk.

Ahhhh, but there was also no championships. Times have changed and the reason why the program has been so successful is TAF. A lot of people may hate what they stand for but they're a necessity now.

That was the impression at the time. The reasoning given was that "People were confused" about the Alma Mater, yelling Forever LSU! at the end of the first verse. So they decided to play both verses, and to do that they had to cut Tiger Rag. That's what was said at the time, but then no reason was given for why the band couldn't play it in the stands.
To my knowledge, nothing besides "Assholes!" was chanted during Tiger Rag.
The "Assholes, assholes!" thing in Tiger Rag was originally done a small handful of times, when the song was played after refs had made horrible calls. Students decided to start doing it EVERY time the song was played, which reall didn't make a lick of sense.
Next to the Alma Mater and Fight for LSU, it's the song the band plays (played?) with the longest history in Tiger Stadium.
Taking songs away, that have storied histories in the stadium is not "punishing the students." If they wanted to "punish students" for cursing, then they'd directly do that - at least logic would dictate that is what they'd do.
What they've chosen to do instead is just plain sad.

1958 ring a bell?
And I'm npt saying they are no longer a necessity for funding, BUT the football team would still exist without them.

Was TAF around in 1958 when we won that NC?
TAF has definitely made this program what it is today, nobody is denying that. However in recent years TAF has also, IMO, ruined the overral atmosphere of the game. The game has become more of a social event than a college football game.

Save the 1958 shite. College football isn't even close to the same animal that it was back then.

Great idea, ignore it because it blows your shite out the water. Is college football the same as it was when TAF started? Of course not.

LSU football would be about as extravagant as LSU quidditch if it were still a student-run sport.

It wasn't quite as different as you think it is.

No it doesn't. If TAF doesn't show up we don't get the East Upper or the Cox Building or the Operations Center and we likely don't keep Saban past 2002. He was constantly pushing for the academic center and operations bldg.

No one is debating that. The whole TAF thing came about when someone suggested that the LSU football team would not exist without TAF.
It would not be competitive at all; however, it would exist.
A lot of people here cannot read worth a damn.
