I have been blessed, I grew up listening to John Ferguson who had a great radio voice. During his time we had to listen to John at least 8 of the 10 games because LSU was only on TV maybe twice, if that. Took me awhile to adjust To Mr. Hawthorne, but he has been awesome but he has been fantastic and has been our voice in the greatest era of LSU sports, (6) WS baseball champions, and (2) Football (NC), and at least (3) basketball final fours. You have done it all Mr. Hawthorne, God bless you and enjoy your retirement.
FOREVER LSU

FOREVER LSU

Hate to say but it was the worst game I've ever heard him call. He repeatedly mixed up the right and left, called Fournette "Harris," at least twice called defenders receivers, as in "they've got nine receivers in the box." And at the end he made a comment about how at the goalline they spot the ball where the ball is, while anywhere else they spot it where his knee hits, which is clearly wrong. You could tell Moreau was surprised by all this, and he tried to gently clean him up a few times. But it was very clear that something is wrong.

I grew up listening to Jim Ferguson on the radio so to me he is the voice I remember most and enjoyed the most.

If you don't even know his name then you weren't listening much.

His calls during the 1986 NCAA basketball run were phenomenal. I will miss you Jim! Also those 1990 baseball CWS games. He described a golden era.

Way too many good memories from all sports. I lived in Pennsylvania during the Dinardo era, and not all games were on TV. If I parked my car just right in my driveway I could pick up WRNO broadcasts. I'd sit in the car and listen to Doug and Jim. Wife thought I was crazy. Still does.
