I am just saying there can easily be a transfer.
There are 3 teams in the SEC west who's starting qb this season did not originally sign with their team.
Obviously LSU can't do that too I guess.
I am not saying everything is great and smelling roses, but people need to get a grip.
I assume you mean Methlet, Masoli, and Newton. You realize Masoli and Newton are both criminals who got kicked off their original teams right? Mallett is a victim of a change in his offensive system, so he went back home to Arkansas to play for the passing-game-oriented Bobby Petrino. I can't really be sure, but have any high-profile quarterbacks from Louisiana left recently who may be looking to transfer? We already kicked Ryan Perrilloux off the team, I don't think we're going to knowingly take in another Perrilloux.

When was the last time Texas had 4 L's?
we might get three this year but not 4

i am just saying that there are 3 teams in our division that are starting a qb that was not originally on their team.
i am sure there are more teams around the nation doing the same.
hell, we even had a transfer qb starting for us in 2008, not that it worked out for us.

Our fans would rather deflect our problems onto other schools such as Texas, Florida, Georgia, and Alabama. They don't see that there really is a problem with our current quarterback situation.

How many wins per year would he have had if Texas was in the SEC? My guess is that he would average 8-9 wins.
agree average team in a shite conference

Yeah, but they have a sophomore that stepped onto the biggest stage in college football as a true fresh and almost led a 2nd half comeback against one of the best defenses in college football. I dont think out situations are the same

A lot of people. They say, "Oh we'll just get a transfer or sign someone next year, and things will be great!" We have our intelligence questioned for looking to the future. And quite frankly, I don't care if other teams have the same problem. People citing Georgia should realize that Georgia is on its way to becoming irrelevant. They had their chance in 2007, but haven't done anything since then except choke when given high expectations. It is 2010, and our most recently signed quarterback is from the 2008 signing class.

Im not a Longhorn fan by any stretch, but you guys are a little out of control with what would happen if Texas were in the SEC.
The Big 12 is a top 3 conference, were not talking about the Big East.

i wonder what their running game is going to be like this year
who knows, they sign so many 4 and 5 stars across the board that are IN state. They better have a running game though, Gilbert may be talented but McCoy was a really good college QB.

quote:The rantards will tell you they are worried about what is going to happen 3 seasons from now. Just about every college football team is in the same situation on QB's. Next year bama will have a Sophomore and RS-freshman competing for the starting job. Neither of which will have likely started a game. Ole Miss had to scramble the week before fall camp to bring in a QB this year because one left the program unexpectedly over the summer. Georgia is about to start a RS-freshman this season. Who does Florida have as a back-up to Brantley?
It sounds like Texas has a similar situation as LSU. Their backup qb quit and left two true freshmen and a walkon as backups
The fact that we have 2 QB with game experience that are finally maturing and accepting leadership rolls is a better QB depth situation than almost any other team in the conference. 2012 is three seasons away and if we have to start a RS-freshman or Sophomore it will be no different than what most other teams around college football are doing.

I think most fans understand the situation. I think what many are attempting to point out is that this situation is not just relevant to LSU. Texas is in a very similar situation to what we will have in 2012 this year and they are ranked in the Top 5. But for us, 2012 will be all doom and gloom. The quarterback dilemma we have is played out at many schools every year.
Why not look forward to this year instead of whining about 2 years from now.

i think everyone realizes there is an issue with 2012. but there are 2 camps. one thinks there is no hope and the other thinks there is.
our 2012 fate was not sealed with lee to the dodgers.

quote:Their hope better be that he learns how to take care of the ball. How many interceptions did he throw in 3 quarters of play. It was 4 I think...
On top of that, they've seen Gilbert's potential in very limited playing time as a true freshman and have hope for his future.

I agree with you. LSU is better off. They have two Soph. QB's nearly defeat the 'Bamaites last year and a rsf who could have beaten them the year before with better play-calling.

Alabama's D did not plan for Gilbert to play. If they did, I think the game would have been different and he would not have done shite.
