We had 2 sacks against them last year and they threw it 50 times.

The biggest take away for me was Texas looks slow. The LT WRs were getting separation all afternoon. The Safety/Corner Blitz were not fast enough to make an impact. Linebackers were slow to the sidelines. Even Ingram looks lower than last year, they did mention he had put on some weight bringing him to 220lbs

I think y’all really need to look back and see what we did against LA Tech last year. The games were extremely similar.

I fully understand that, I was making an observation from this season.

And it’s the general consensus that our DL was bad last year

...and one of the main weaknesses of our D last year was pass rush

Missed our best pass rusher more than we realized

We have Chaisson this year.

Still, a team like Texas should be getting a good pass rush on a team like La Tech.

If a team is passing 54 times, you probably at least want your front 4 getting some pressure even if you aren't dialing up the exotic blitz packages.

I expect screens to their play makers early. Try to take Chaisson out of as many plays as possible.

But that didn’t equate to our defense being slow, or being bad, or not being able to compete.

I’ve just seen a lot of people beat their chest about how Texas didn’t look great because of some of the stats in that game against LA Tech, when we had the almost the exact same game against LA tech last year and we had our best season in quite some time.

There's a big difference on how something does over a huge sample size vs. talking about how someone didnt do much over 1 play

Oh my fricking God.

Burrow had 1 rush attempt on 46 snaps.

I'm not saying Burrow didn't do anything with his one rush, I'm saying that LSU was holding Burrow's rushing back. I expect we'll probably see 8-12 runs from Burrow in the Texas game - just like we'll see much more pressure from the Texas defense. BOTH teams were holding back plays in preparation for this weekend.

Don't let the defensive stat line from the UT-Tech game fool you. AND, don't let the rushing stat line from the LSU-GSU game fool you.

But a real dumb take is thinking that the Tech game is any indication of what Texas can do on defense

The people on this website are incredible yea, Texas has an ultra secret defensive playbook and they’re going to ramp their defense up to Chicago Bears level against us after shitting the bed against Tech, and Les Miles is still waiting to break out the secret playbook against Alabama. Because that’s how college football works in reality, and that certainly isn’t just a tigerdroppings conspiracy theory or anything

Burrow can decide to run on any zone read that he wants to. Probably not going to have to. The basic five and curl by three guys plus the tight end while Burrow has the ball in the running backs belly is going to work over and over

If your comments have more red arrows than green arrows in the bottom right corner it means that you don't know what you are talking about.

Week 1 isn't that telling. Players and coaches grow from week to week.

Which means?

Do you believe this LSU team could have beaten last years LSU team?

Do you believe we could get to the LT quarterback this season?

I believe every group of the LSU defense is better than last season.

...OR, I'm dealing with Rantards who don't understand that teams often times don't show their hand in the first game of the season against a cupcake. After all, LSU fans aren't known for overconfidence, right?

That's fine, I expect some LSU fans on here to be surprised when Texas shows to have a better defense than they expected. That'll give them the chance to bitch and moan as usual. I still expect LSU to win.
