How is it any different than beating A&M who also had 3 losses when Texas beat them? A&M deserves a higher ranking than Clemson.

A&M looked brutal after their big win vs LSU. They're not better than Clemson.

Aggies will beat SC, but only because the SC team has pretty much en masse hit the portal

Clemson played only one ACC team with a winning record in conference prior to the ACCCG (Louisville) and lost. They are 0-3 against the SEC when stepping away from that weak conference slate. I’m really not sure what you think Clemson has done to even deserve to be ranked.

And they still finished behind LSU in the final SEC standings.

Tenner didn’t play a would but the Gumps. That’s it.

They were 5-3 in conference just like LSU. In any case, LSU should be ranked ahead of Clemson too.

I didn't think Clemson did enough to be ranked, particularly after their loss to S Carolina. But A&M finished 8-4, with their best wins at home vs Missouri and LSU. And they played poorly the last four weeks, with a blowout @ SC, a loss to Auburn, and a loss to Texas where the Longhorns ran at will on the Aggie defense.

2nd worst team in the playoffs. 17th ranked team that got in by beating…SMU, the worst team in the playoffs.

I’m not one who thinks timing should matter in the ranking of teams. A&M may have faltered somewhat down the stretch, but Texas and SC were also the best teams they faced all year besides possibly ND. The Auburn loss was quite bad. Still, they had the two good wins you mentioned plus a win over Florida who turned out to be better than everyone thought they were. The G5 teams, ACC teams, and Big 12 teams at the bottom of the rankings are not more deserving of rankings relative to A&M or LSU.
