Tesla launched high volume production of it's Semi truck

Targeting a production capacity of 50,000 semi-trucks annually
These are not driverless, but I imagine that's not too far in the future
What this will do is save on diesel, DEF, and maintenance. Fewer moving parts = less maintenance. They claim to have a 98% uptime.

If people were smart, this is what they would pimp about EVs. The uptime and lifespan on electric vehicles is exceptional compared to ICE powered stuff.

Tesla has done a good job addressing battery degradation but that is still a concern for many

The only things keeping me from considering an EV are
1. Time to fully recharge
2. Range
3. Battery life (though this is less of a concern now)
If they can produce an EV that can go 300+ miles, recharge in <10 minutes, and be ready to go another 300+ miles, I’ll buy it without hesitation.

Well, no. You still see cars and trucks from the 70's and 80's on the road. EV's will be on their 5th or 6th set of batteries to get that far.

That’s cool. If they can give me the range and fast refill option that makes an EV the equivalent of an IC powered vehicle, I’m highly interested.

Uptime based on what interval? Sure there are less maintenance items until there aren't 
There are million mile semi trucks driving all over the country today. Now compare the uptime of a 800k - 1m mile diesel vs the Tesla.

What we do know so far is that the Semi fleet is accumulating millions of commercial miles, uptime has been around 95–98%, and an EV eliminates a lot of diesel maintenance items entirely—engine oil, emissions equipment, fuel system, transmission, etc.

Or Elon isnt as stupid as your typical American CEO who sees a 4% dip in the stock price and decides to rush a huge product announcement to try and get 2% of that dip back

The more I think about it, the more an EV makes sense for my wife when it’s time for a new car in another few years. Her daily commute is like 2 miles each way. She’ll drive to Bham sometimes to go shopping, about 45 minutes away. But that’s usually about it. When we go on road trips, we usually take my car.

Mercedes tested a EQS with a new lithium metal solid-state battery made by a US company call Factorial last year. It went 750 miles on a single charge.
They say the new battery tech hold at least 25% more usable energy at the same weight as current batteries. The cool thing is that the test was mostly on highways where EVs are typically least efficient.
They are looking to get to market with these by 2030. At that point, you almost have to make the switch to an EV with that kind of range.
