Bradshaw is wrong.
Flynn had 2 great games in the NFL and got rich off it.

When did he say this?
Just now... I was typing up a new thread and wanted to check to see if someone else started it... Sure enough, it was there. This is the quote as I was able to get it (thanks DVR!)
When asked about the QB controversy in Seattle, this is what he responded with:
quote:
" He (Wilson) is one of those guys, forget about 6'4, 6'5, the prototypical NFL QB, he won, he won big, he won big at the end of the games, he won big in big games, everybody responded to him. He's a leader. He gets to Seattle and he just continues on with that trend. He studies hard and the players respond to him and therefore I think he's gonna start. Matt Flynn is a guy barely any good at LSU. He had one good game against the Lions, threw 6 touchdown passes, and he got rich off it."

Matt Flynn has a natty to his name. Russell Wilson has played 3 preseason games

I would say Flynn was better than "barely any good" his Sr. year here.
He wasn't all-American or anything close but it's not like he was JJ out there

Usually love Bradshaw. What crawled up his arse?
Posted on 8/26/12 at 5:23 pm to Rittdog
Bradshaw is still mad that he couldn't get into LSU.

We are watching the game and heard that too. I was like
, then considered the source.

So we won a national title with a barely any good QB. I'll take it

WOW. Wonder why he is running on Matt? That sucks.
Posted on 8/26/12 at 5:26 pm to Rittdog
I heard that as well. I thought that was a pretty unfair statement

That's what I got out of his statement....I mean he is probably a bit off base about his time at LSU, but he is spot on about the NFL

If Russell Wilson wins the starting job for the Seahawks it is going to be pretty hard for young career backup qb's to get paid after one big game

First part is wrong. Second part is dead accurate.

Just mad he couldn't make it to LSU

I'm not even sure that I'd say his statement about being successful in one NFL game is really true. While it's true that he had an eye-opening performance that really turned people on to him, I think you also have to look at the Aaron Rodgers example. Coaches saw AR sit behind Favre for years under that coaching staff and when the time came he was ready to step up and produce. Flynn sat behind Rodgers and seemed as if he was trending in the right direction. It was a gamble, that's for sure, but if Flynn panned/pans out like Rodgers, Seattle will be able to say they bought low and will be heralded as geniuses. Kansas City and Arizona have pretty much done the same thing. They've just flopped
ETA: And yes, I'm aware Rodgers was a high draft pick. I still think his precedent was an important part of why Seattle was willing to take the gamble.
