If highest paid coach is corbin 1.4 and already leaked for weeks Vitello has 1.4 offer from Tenn then this isnt really news. Vitello may very well decide to stay but this is old news and very predictable from Tenn.
“ Terms of Corbin's contract also are not subject to public records laws, but with bonuses he earned more than $1.4 million in 2019, according to the school's most recent federal tax returns. His base salary was $1.2 million that year. ”

Which is why it’s possible Sexton is trying for more…

Just seems like a half assed effort.

They couldn't pay him that money even if they wanted to. They don't make nearly what we do.

Everyone is on Vitello’s dick right now but if LSU doesn’t hire Vitello it’s going to be interesting to read all the comments next time we play them. He’s a great coach but I just find our fan base on here to be very amusing in its collective hypocrisy.

“Vitello is good but we have Corbin. We gonna kick dat arse”
“Our guy has multiple titles, Vitello hasn’t won a single game in Omaha”

You’re ignorant of you don’t think Tennessee can afford a few million a year. They have deep pockets

Money can come from various sources. The entire package might be much larger, but 1.4m isn't going to keep TV at Tennessee long.

They really don't have many donors left.

They overpaid their MBB coach, paid Kevin Steele $1M just to hang out for a week, had to overpay for a new AD, had to overpay for an FCS football coach, lost revenue due to COVID, & last but not least, drove off some longtime donors when they bungled the Pruitt-Fulmer situation.

They're in more of a money crunch than you'd think. They won't be paying Vitello so long as baseball operates in the red there.

All of this is also evidence they could potentially blow a shite load of money on Vitello.

I am amazed that this board continues to allow this to happen to it. Get all worked up over coaches who aren't coming here. I will be shocked if it is Vitello

My hype immediately went out the window when I found out Sexton was his agent.

I think there could also be some intangibles in play for Vitello. He grew up in St Louis, so did I. You’re pretty much raised to be a rabid Cardinal fan there; I was from the time I was about 4. The only thing that’s ever come close to Busch Stadium for me is Alex Box; the fans, the atmosphere-the knowledge of the game and sportsmanship are all something I related to. He’s coached at the Box, at the very least while he was an assistant at Arky. He knows. IF we offer, I think he takes it.
