And we've seen that it does not take that record to make it to the BCS championship game.

Hence the entire point of the OP - that it's not worth the risk to play Tebow since they would still have a very clear path to the MNC title game even with a loss to LSU.

It looks to me your main point was to flame Miles. Chicken must think so also since he anchored this cesspool of a thread....

MileHigh I'd appreciate it if you stopped posting in the threads I'm posting in. This is really getting out of hand.

Flame Miles? What does that even mean? Did you just make that up all by yourself?

one could argue that that is a function of either:

1. previous development by Saban's staff
2. recruiting, which has already been acknowledged as one of Miles' strong points.

Link to an attribution analysis per player that assigns credit to recruiting that player vs developing that player?

I think they will still win handily with the other guy and people will FINALLY start taking seriously the idea that Miles is a total chump.

Forgive me, but I find it hard to believe that Saban's staff could develop their players to such a degree at such an early point in their collegiate careers that it was enough to sustain them until Draft Day. Though I'm not so ignorant to fail to recognize that it was immensely important.

I would also suggest that while recruiting definitely plays a great part in the talent pool available, you have to consider the unimpressive members of this team who have gone on to get drafted.

For a specific example, I would suggest charting the growth and development of Brandon LaFell.

Sure, it reduces their margin of error. but they are head and shoulders above everyone but Bama.
Bottom line is: if they go undefeated, they are in the title game...if they lose one or more games, then they are not guaranteed a shot...funny things can happen between now and bowl pairings announcement day.

Besides, going undefeated is probably important to some folks in Florida. As LSU fans can attest, winning a title with one or more losses can add fuel to the debate as to who was the most deserving to play in the title game.

Tebow shouldn't play, but not because of your ridiculous reasons...

1. Saban's staff? That's like saying a birth mother who gives up a child for adoption gets credit for the proper rearing of kid. "The kid turned out great...must have had a great birth mother!" Ridiculous. Saban brought em on campus and Miles and his staff coached em. Their devleopment all goes on Miles resume.

2. A high school coach prepared these young men for the NFL? I'm not even gonna dignify that with a response.

Clearly.

Totally disagree. I think if UF loses this game and then runs the table, then it is a 100% chance they play for the title (and this is PARTICULARLY true if Tebow doesn't play, since any negative attached to losing to #4 LSU in TS will utterly dissipate because the media/voters will ascribe it to Tebow's absence for that one game.)

Probably, but I doubt Urban Meyer cares that much about it himself. I'd be surprised if he wasn't just running a very cold cost/benefit analysis on the situation.
