I lived in Tiger Stadium during football season and on the road also. That was the 70's and most of all the 80's, what the hell happened to Tiger Stadium?

TBT: The Party Like It's 1969 Game
by RealityTiger

One of the top 3 games to be at in the stands. LSU fans were tired of losing to Bama in Baton Rouge. It was 31 years of Bama pulling it out on a fluke play, coming together in the 4th quarter, straight up arse kicking, LSU blowing a chance, etc.

It wasn't 31 years of losing to them, because at the time in 2000, we had beaten them 5 times in Alabama (all since '82.)
It had been since 1969 that we had beaten them IN Baton Rouge, but that wasn't 31 games, it was only 14 games. Still sucked though.
And of those 14 losses in Tiger Stadium between '71 and '98, only the '85 game (14-14 tie, missed short FG by Ronnie Lewis), and '98 game (22-16 loss after 2 tipped pass TDs to the same Bama receiver over the same LSU DB in the last 3 minutes) could have been considered 'flukey'.
The '99 loss at Bama was also a give-away. Booty tried to run over 4 Bama DL at the goal line when he had 2 receivers wide open in the back of the EZ for the winning TD ..

The Tide don't lose in Baton Rouge.

At least since 2012 that is.

Before 2012 Bama had only beaten us 3 times since 2000 -
2002(BR), 2008(BR), and 2009(Tusc.)

I recall thinking to myself that if this call is not changed, I feared for the refs leaving the field. It felt that hostile in the south endzone.

Amazing what a well executed play action pass can do with a tight end... please send to Les.

Was at both of these! And most of in between; the 2000 was crazy as said and that blown call was par for the game!

I remember watching several people jump on the goal post and fall off because of the grease.
Next thing I know I'm under the goal post and two huge hmguys grab me and said " get up there and hang on till this comes down". They picked me up and put me on the goal post. I looked over and see my cousin next to me. We help on till it started to come done. I had to throw my shirt away because of the grease.
