Targeting

My first thought in the stands last night was Aggies committed targeting on Watkins with that late cheap shot.
Did commentators mention anything on TV about it? Was cheap and was helmet to helmet.

He was tackled by being thrown down and the other defensive player was coming in for a regular tackle. I don’t know how it could be called targeting since Watkins was thrown into the other guy.

I think there has to be some layer of intent.
We would’ve been pissed if an LSU player got ejected for that same hit. Probably run another dumbass billboard campaign or something

It looked terrible, but it wasn't targeting. Guy grabbed Watkins and slung him down, and the other guy was coming in.

If anything, a personal foul - unnecessary roughness penalty on the tackler. Definitely not targeting, and I’m honestly okay with no penalty there because it wasn’t a late tackle, and the toss to the ground was part of said tackle, not late. The other defensive player wasn’t intending to hit his helmet nor use his own as a weapon.

I know we all like to wear our purple and gold glasses here but sometimes our team just gets a bad break. Nothing dirty about the hit on Watkins and refs were correct not to flag it. Stuff just happens sometimes.
