Go to a D.C.I. show in the summer if you want to see refined marching music on a football field. You aint seeing that from any college marching band, given the very limited amount of practice time available and trying to put on a new show for every home game. LSU does have one of the better marching bands in the country, but as to where they actually rank would be impossible to judge without some kind of juried national competition.

Coach Mac, Nick Rouse and me all ended our careers together in Orlando. When Wickes came in and announced practice would be 2 hours a day, I had to quit my senior year. I couldn't be in school for 7-8 years like some of the JUMAS brothers.

LSU has won at least 3 national college band competition championships:
1970-71 TGBFTL named the "All-American TV College Marching Band.
2002 Sudler Trophy for the nation's best college marching band.
2008 First place in ESPN's Battle of the Bands competition (Indiana Jones theme)

That ESPN battle of the bands was such a joke. We kicked everyone's arse, though.

I think there was some Chevrolet Band Championship around "69 that we won also.

Band Thread. I love the GBFTL, but never seen a thread like this before. As nerdy as it is...I read the whole thing.
