Tailgating at Vandy

Trying to decide if it’s worth it to tailgate in Nashville or just stick to broadway for the day and Uber to the stadium. Can you tailgate wherever, drink and cook like at LSU or are they really strict on the open containers, no grilling, ect... I know at ole miss they make you put your beer in a cup and some stadiums don’t allow any open flames. Just trying to get my road trip squared away early.

I you tailgate and drink too much, once you get in that tiny stadium get ready for LONG lines for the bathroom. I think they only have one on each side.

There is some tailgating but you’d be better off staying on broadway and “tailgating” there. There’s some sports bars around vandy that you can pre-game at

I’ll be there as well and it’s hard to know tailgating details yet without knowing the kickoff time. Downtown bar hopping is probably the best bet though and then walk to the stadium.

We might be going also. Try to go to one away game a year

After LSU went to Vandy in 2005, the city shut down tailgating in Centennial Park for several years.

I will be making the trip as well and will be tailgating close to stadium. Just undecided on a spot. I reached out to some Vandy fans and they said that the grass around the parking lots along Natchez trace are popular for opposing tailgates. The campus is alcohol friendly and doesn't seem to be silly about cups, bottles, etc.
In this video below you'll see there are quite a lot of GA fans tailgating. One of these spots the GA fans are at is the Natchez trace church of Christ on the corner of Blakemore and Natchez trace. the other is right east of that in the parking lot of Harris Hillman school. Hope this helps and we see some tiger fans there to setup by and have our own fun. LINK

There are hotels right by the stadium. Just tailgate at the hotel, watch other games on tv, and 10 minutes before kickoff then walk to the stadium. I enjoy Nashville and the Vandy game because it’s a great city and no trouble atmosphere.

My buddies (I used to live in Nash) put together a pretty good tailgate in Lot 4 for the Vandy games. That's where I'll be.

Good deal. I’ll prob tailgate then as long as it’s not an 11 am kickoff!

North side of 31st between Vanderbilt Place and Natchez (near the intramural field) is a really good spot. It's all grass, walking distance to the stadium and plenty of street parking in the neighborhood across the street. No need to worry about open containers on game day just need to get there fairly early since it typically fills up.
