By the letter of the law, you are completely correct in stating LSU has no control over an opponents schedule.
UNLESS YOU MANDATE IN THE CONTRACT that this will be the first game for BOTH teams when entering into an agreement to play in a KICKOFF GAME.
You're also right that LSU couldn't just snap it's fingers and move the Southern game back 2 weeks. We were outmaneuvered by FSU, and it isn't the first time it's happened. We have to be smarter about scheduling, and if that means helping, firing, or reassigning Verge, then so be it.
I don't think this has been a priority for us when signing to play in these things in the past. We probably still have a few more in the near future where we haven't included this clause. It needs to be in every motherfLucking one of these we sign from today on, however. If the potential opponent won't agree to it, than move right on down the damned list until you find one that will.

The responses prove that this board is full of people who have no idea what sports media looks or sounds like outside of the state.
For 2 entire weeks, any time LSU football was mentioned, the national sports media brought up Brian Kelly being on the hot seat practically immediately due to the lose to FSU out of the gates. Heck, many started posting about it during the game at halftime! But of course, an entire collection of neckbearded mouth breathers who can't see beyond their own noses, think I was personally putting CBK on the hot seat.
