You know, it's just embarassing that the snapper knew more about how critical time was than the coaches.
And the Quarterback who has started 20 games.

"The center is often the smartest player on the field."

I was wondering if any player on the field was paying attention to the game clock. Usually that would be the QB, but I guess the center also touches the ball each play. Thanks T-Bob!

is anyone else suprised that the center didn't know the play that was called?

Well, his struggles with time management are a thing of legend.

Great headiness play by T Bob. In desparate time, just trying to make something happen. Fortunate to have him on our team. Played most of 2nd, 3rd, and most of 4th quarters at RG, then swtiched over to C when PJ was banged up. Wish he were a tad bigger but I'll take his toughness, smarts, & production any day. He is a BALLER!!

No offense to T-Bob, but I'm not sure snapping the ball when the QB isn't ready and with 3 to 4 secs on the game clock is a "great decision". imo
Of course, I'm sure any great decision were made in the final 20 secs, but for the refs call.

No offense to you, but why wasn't the QB ready?

Nobody wanted to tell him that the play was to spike the ball. No telling where his helmet would have wound up then.

I find it interesting that T-Bob says that he and JJ actually practiced this, and both agreed that the best thing to do in that situation was to just snap the ball and be ready for it.
Anybody else catch that around the 2:09 mark?
SO JJ, why weren't YOU ready?

I'm not trying to excuse anyone or anything, poor play by LSU and the Vols in the final 20 secs,
The main this is, imo, and for good or bad, the QB makes the snap call and not the center cause the QB is the one who has to catch the ball.
Now if T-Bob knew Tenn had 14 players on the field when be snapped, that's great and we all need to take turns feeding him this week.

Go to the 2:09 mark in the video

Heads up by T-Bob!!
JJ does not have a clue. No leadership, no game savvy, "deer in headlights' when pressure is on.

Quite honest, yet very diplomatic. Well conducted interview.

That was a heads up play.
I like the way JJ made sure that UT didn't recover the fumble after time had run out.
WTF was HE thinking??? why dive on the ball????
he should have batted it around to get possession so the play could continue. His reaction was LOSE.

I hear what he is saying and what you are saying.
The team did what was needed to win and that's all I ever ask for myself or wish for them.

The common theme is we are winning in spite of the coaching not because of it.
Just imagine how good this team could be with decent coaching...or even great coaching.

Doesn't every team have a default clusterf--k play for these situations - if nothing more than a spike?
