As I posted right after the game in a thread that got buried down the board in a few minutes...

Subject: Jankowski (8) + Carmona (7) hits = LSU total hits in 3 games.

Post: That tells the whole story. Tigers just did not get it done. Congrats to Seawolves.

i think their catcher bats second because he is the best bunter on the team. that damn jankowski is always on base and he just sacrifices him over for carmona to knock him in. worked like a charm all weekend.

Eventually if the hitting doesn't improve and PM doesn't get a new hitting coach then PM may be the one losing his job.

Yeah because winning the SEC Title outright and nearly 50 games, plus coming within 1 game of Omaha is just unacceptable. Give me a break.

Mainieri isn't going anywhere. He is widely respected in baseball and is one of the best in the business.

didn't see that as an issue at all this weekend. What I saw was us letting their pitcher get by with 7 or 8 pitches per inning because we were first pitch swinging or letting him off the hook by swinging at horrible pitches. At one point the pitcher had thrown 6 straight balls and was clearly getting anxious, the crowd was roaring and shaking him up, then the next batter comes up and hacks at the first pitch and grounds out weakly and they are out of the inning. Perhaps letting him throw a few pitches could have resulted in a wild pitch, HBP, whatever to get a rally going. So many times this weekend we had 3 balls and then swung at a pitch a foot over our head or on the ground. It's like they think taking a walk is robbing them of trying to swing for the fence. I saw no strategy at the plate or any situational adjustment in batting....Just I am going up and swing for the fence
This is what I call "Hitting the nail on the head"

I'm sure this has been discussed earlier, but if I was PM, the first call I make after the CWS is to the Stoney Brook hitting coach to make him LSU's new hitting coach. The fact is that the change to composition bats has ended gorilla ball and we need someone to teach our hitters how to work deep into counts, foul off lots of pitches, and wait for good pitches to hit. SB did that all series. On the other hand, afte LSU hit all the homers in game 1, it looked like all of our hitters wanted to hit the ball over the wall on every at bat. They swung at terrible pitches, and popped up lots of balls.

Another thing, who positioned the outfielders? In last nights game, the outfield was a soggy mess and most balls hit and stuck without rolling far. Yet, our outfielders looked to be playing at regular depth. It appeared that the SB outfielders were shallower. All of SB's soft liners dropped in for base hits, and ours were caught for outs. No adjustments were made. Poor coaching.

A team doesn't make it to a Super and throw that terrible of a performance.

Not implying anything, but last night, I felt like a member of the crowd from "Eight Men Out".
That's how flabbergasted I was.
