It took Harbaugh about six years to really get Michigan rolling.
In pre-NIL and transfer portal era.
Again, looking at Kelly like its 2012 college football landscape is crazy. Its a totally different world that hes dealing with.

Finally, some sanity on here. What baffles me is that the offense just doesn’t perform or look like a traditional Kelly team. He had 9 d-line, 7 tight ends, and 6 O-line drafted during his tenure at ND. They may not have stood up to SEC talent, but they were a physical team. It’s strange that Denbrock left when he did with Nuss on deck. Something strange is going on in the program.

I think most everyone acknowledges that
They dont given how they repeatedly compare his current tenure to coaches that built success in a completely different era under completely different circumstances.
Kelly has a long track record of building programs in a completely different era.
I think Woodward expected that Kelly would give LSU a high floor and rement the broken program left over from the later Miles and Orgeron years (Orgeron had 1 good season). It was clear going into the NIL era that someone had to build the program up in the right way to ensure longer term success. Theoretically, Kelly was the perfect candidate to do that.

And what was that? ND was famously irrelevant since 1988 and BK brought them back to relevancy with a NC appearance and a playoff berth. Freeman inherited a program that was in great shape.
I think it’s pretty telling that Kelly only got a punter to come with him from Norte dame.
Every other hire that I can think of in the last few years has brought significant portions of their rosters from their previous school with them. Kelly either didn’t bother or his players were happy to see him go.

Look SW took a swing and struck out so far. BK is not as involved here as he was at ND.He thought that he could sit back and let his coach’s do the dirty work without a lot of input. He was wrong and now is on the verge of losing the locker room.He hired an incompetent OC and hasn’t intervened with this cluster F.He felt all he needed was more talent and not more coaching.
I agree with everything you said...not sure how it relates to me saying ND and the media only hate him for leaving ND to come to LSU so they look for reasons to do hit pieces on him. I never wanted him as the LSU coach but feel like i have to pull for him to have success for my team to have success.

This couldn’t be more correct. I’ve yet to find a Notre Dame fan, or a Midwesterner in general, who liked the guy.
And this goes back to his days coaching college ball in Michigan.
Winning is the only fragrance that covers that stank.

He won at ND because all he had to do was beat USC, Penn St., and Navy. The rest where the likes of Mich.St., Northwestern, Illinois and so on. That aint the SEC, and he aint a SEC coach. Woody should have given him the Saban deal when he came here. If I win the National Championship, give me 1.00 more than the highest paid coach at the time.
This is stupid. First off he never played Penn State or Illinois while coaching at ND. He also coached against prime Stanford, Dantonio's Michigan State, Jimbo coached FSU, and Deshaun Watson led Clemson.
To completely discredit him is a bad take.
