I think the SS is a tremendous asset to the Tigers, heck I wish there as on in the other endzone as well, you are correct LSU could make more money off the section, but I think the Tigers need the students there more than the money.

not the point. read the posts idiot.

maybe i should use your tactics. make a statement followed by an insult. does that really work? will people listen to me?

we have a bad reputation with schools that are our traditional rivals.

maybe that's why i've been in places like utah, new york, chicago, and even seattle only to hear people ask me why LSU fans are known for acting like assholes. maybe if i wasn't an idiot, i'd understand.

the retard comment had nothing to do with me saying it goes on at other schools it was the post in general.

nice try tho. seriously, you should be proud of yourself.

i know. maybe i should have written "wonderful arguments". either way, saying 'but he did it too' sounds like something a 5 year old says and calling someone a retard sounds like you about 11.

If you offer $25 thread for chants, it'll be flooded by skip bertman ideas trying to get that cash

bc the same students that say they are such great tiger fans werent even going to all of the games last year
last year was a terrible home schedule. not many people want to see 45-3 blowouts of ull or arizona. i would be interested to see percentage figures of how many students attend games compared with seats available vs. the rest of the stadium.

yes it is. but is also COLLEGIATE athletics. we are at a college. colleges, like it or not, revolve around students.

Skip knows that. You cannot get rid of the stuent section and replace it with $1000 season ticket holders because the team would begin to lose and demand would decrease.

im not saying git rid of the whole thing. im saying skip might squeeze it a little, and then knock it down 1500 or so. then you will have a bunch of students bitching about not getting tickets, and then skip tells them why. dont think for a second that wouldnt help with the problem

Sorry it took so long to reply to my own post, but I was called to work as soon as I posted it! Many of you are right, these cheers have been going on for some time, but why does that make right?? Taht's a very weak thought process. There are many thing that that went on for some time, but they were not right. Slavery, segragation, etc... I AM NOT COPARING THOSE TO CURSING IN THE STUDENT SECTION!!! I am comparing the mental thought process many of you seem to have with that statement.
Also, I think those words are said at all games as well, but there were A LOT MORE people saying this paticular time... Basically I do not want to be compared to Florida and Alabama fans. That is by far my biggest fear for this program and it's fan base!!

you honestly think the students that still have tickets will stop doing the chants?

yes, you should wash my mouth out with soap when i say f*ck to a person disrespecting our section specifically. if you haven't noticed, it's COLLEGE football. not mid life crisis football. the key thing here, and i hope it doesn't surprise you too much, is that it is for COLLEGE students. did you know that the players are also in college? i know, its surprising. did you also know that they get really excited about the student section chants? guess they could use more coaches to serve as "adult supervision" so there'll be someone there to pull their earlobes when the snicker at the "f u t bo" chant

THANK YOU!

I think the non-students who booed flynn are way worse than the students saying "frick"

the only f-bomb i dropped in the stands saturday was when flynn was running on the field and someone a-hole in front of me started booing to which i loudly replied. "Quit fricking booing your own players you dick!"

didn't mean to do it, but that ignorance kinda pisses me off! regardless, no one in my section booed after that

Did anyone try the "Duke #15" chant? That actually would have been pretty cool and unique, especially on the first drive.

have you read any of the posts from vt fans? or how bout the fl fans that got on after the game? they're unanimously positive. people from new york and chicago also think we all live in the swamp and take fan boats to work in crawfish ponds. i wouldn't pay them much attention. louisiana is pretty misunderstood in general.

to this point, you have had nothing meaningful to provide to the discussion. i apologize for calling you an idiot and your comments retarded. what i should have said was misinformed and poorly put together.

don't you know the rules, if it doesn't have a curse word, we can't do it.

Honestly, not enough of us know what it means

i do. i actually talk to them nearly every game and have even met some of their parents. i did not agree w/ f u spurrier b/c he did nothing to bring it about (besides historically whipping our arse). however, tbo's antics justify the chant imo.

if you read my posts.... that is my biggest complaint. i know the student section is due for random obscenities. but doing it every game is gonna get repetitive and worn out. while no one will ever disband the SS, they could lose some seating and/or the quality of those seats could change.

although i still disagree. i think tebow's response was funny and clever as stated before. him just flipping the student section off would have been classless

i completely understand this. from what ive seen, we don't get national attention for the chants at the games. i've neither heard nor read anything about it from national news sources--unlike bama fans who received national attention for showering the field with bottles after their first home loss.

Not now. But it's the kind of chant that could psyche up the coach and team and send a chilling message to the opposing quarterback each game (substituting #15 with the appropriate number, of course). And it would be completely unique to LSU.

I sent the story about Duke and an explanation about Duke #15 to everyone I knew who was going to the game.

exactly. it will not happen every game. didn't happen at mid tennessee

south carolina and florida were big games. the student section gets into the games emotionally. obcenities ensue. that will not occur every game (and it hasn't).

yes. a lot of them were at my tailgate both games. i feed them and give them beer. i can travel to most sec games and stay at the house of a fan b/c of this. and they will all say the same thing i have been saying and that is how our fan base has come a LONG way in correcting our image. that has been my point all along.

a few more outbursts like the student section had the last two games and you are reversing the course. anyway... gotta run. enjoy the discussion.

How clever. I'll ask you...

How far are you willing to go on this??? We are already losing some traditions. Where do you want to stop?
