Stopping Williams early in the game will be key.

If I remember correctly from 1/9 bama established their offensive identity in that game by throwing short trows to Smelley and Williams via rub routes and TE screens. This slightly open up the run game and down field throws for the rest of the game and it kept the chains moving. These were not big plays but they were highly effective (4, 6 and even 15 yards).
I think Saban will take the same approach. He will use 1st down to throw short passing routes to their big TE Williams and try and get 4 and 5 yards a pop. The LSU defense has to stop this.
How do you think Chavis will plan for Bama's short TE routes to Williams? I think (whatever side Williams lines up on) that Sam and Mingo should drop off into coverage and allow one of the slightly quicker LB's to rush McCarron. This scheme would be more effective at disrupting Williams (effecting him immediately at the line of scrimmage) and McCarron's timing. Forcing bama into a incomplete pass on first down would be huge because 2nd and 10 plays right into Chavis' defense.

Makes a lot of sense. You want to shade safety help to the DE in coverage in case Alabama is able to protect McCarron and allow Williams to extend the route deeper. Mingo and Montgomery are good but you wouldn't want them to try and cover the TE too far down field.
Alabama would have to adjust to this and try to fill the void left by the blitzing LB with quick slants to the middle of the field by the outside receivers.
This will be a great chess match on this side of the ball. McCarron and Nussmeier will have to be on top of their game againt Chavis.

The problem LSU had in covering these two most of the game had to do with them being significantly taller than the corner trying to cover them. That corner smoked weed and got kicked off the team. His replacement is 6'1". McCarron will not be able to throw those high passes with the same efficiency with Mills or Collins in coverage.

I don't think Saban will come out with the same game plan as he did for the BSNC game. I think he will expect LSU to think in those terms and adjust accordingly. I expect him to test the LSU middle early, and then start testing the young corners and safties who have been prone to a oh shite every now and then.
