I've never been a fan of the Domers, but under Kelly they consistently had good seasons. The knock on him was that his teams folded in the big games.

While true, should that be layed at Kelly's feet, or at the school's?

Big games are "big" for a reason. They usually involve playing one of the most talented teams in the country.

Did they fail those tests because Kelly choked the games away? Or did ND finally face teams that had equal coaching talent AND superior player talent?

ND has always had recruiting problems because of their academic requirements and their non-aligned status. In my opinion never winning the "big game" is not and indictment of CBK's coaching skills. It's a credit to him that he was able to do more with less to give them a chance the play in those games.

He'll have no such limitations at LSU.

Notre Dame will never be anywhere near where they once were 40-50 years ago. That was a completely different era and culture of college football. I've seen D2 programs that have better facilities and locker rooms than Notre Dame, that's how shitty their facilities are. They want to keep it "traditional" but fail to realize they are a has-been program and are constantly living in the past. They're basically to college football like the Indiana Hoosiers are to college basketball.
