Ahhh yes because opting out of a sales career is exactly like a college athlete opting out for the NFL. Congrats on the idiotic post.

You’re right, quitting on a team where you are given everything you could ever ask for along with the opportunity to make millions mid-season is much worse. Compare and contrast as you like but high character winners stick it out until the end, quitters quit when it gets tough or not the most optimal situation at the moment. Dude is already foregoing his senior year. Now, quitting on your teammates, school, coaches and fans is becoming fashionable if it possibly benefits me, myself, and I. Absolutely pitiful. Hope he breaks a leg preparing for his forty yard dash.

Look at Jaylen Waddle, he got hurt but was a man and did not opt out like our little Pri-madona's.

Waddle is actually trying to come back and play this year, despite his injury. He probably won't be healthy in time, but just to hear that his goal is to return and play this year shows just how much more heart their guys seem to have. Alabama (and Clemson), frequently, has 1st round guys come back for their senior seasons. Saban sells his guys on the process and winning championships. LSU, since Miles, has sold guys on putting in three years and getting out as soon as possible. It shows. No other school in the country has as many guys who leave school early, whether they're high draft picks or not, or even whether they're drafted at all or not. Fournette started the trend of sitting out bowl games, and now we're trying to be trend setters for guys forgoing part of or all of seasons when they're not even draft eligible yet. If this is where we're headed, or college football as a whole is headed, then it's going to be very difficult for me to care as much when it's clear the players don't care as much about the program and winning much as the fans do.

Jesus Christ listen to yourself dude. You're fricking mentally ill. The kid is making a decision that is best for him and his family, and at the end of the day that's who his loyalty lies with. I guarantee you would do the same, but then again its easy for keyboard warriors like yourself to criticize college kids. Lemme ask you since you like comparing jobs. Would you leave your job right now to go make MILLIONS more elsewhere? Or stick around a few more weeks and run the risk of your sales decreasing when you've already proven your worth as a fantastic salesman? I'm sure your wife would really be pissed if you turned that opportunity down to stick around with your friends/coworkers until the end of the sales period.

It's pretty obvious. You could construct an NFL playoff roster out of all the former tigers that you claim don't matter anymore. The elite high school players we recruit notice that, and it has a TREMENDOUS influence on where "dey take dey talents" for what is now turning into 2-3 years. As the amish say "blee dat".

So could Bama and UGA and OSU and Clemson..... only difference is that they are still winning games at a potential playoff level..... please explain to me why UGA is like 10-2 or 11-1 every year even though they lose players to the draft????? Now LSU did have a huge loss of talent but why can’t they be as good as UGA is this year???? They have had QB problems too.......

His ability to make MILLIONS isn't going to change even if in the unlikely event he has a MAJOR injury. I'd absolutely stick with the horse that got me to where I am, especially if I STILL had a chance to make MILLIONS if I didn't change course. It's called loyalty and not jumping ship when it's convenient for me. Thus, the reason I hope this backfires on his selfish, quitting arse in the biggest way. Stop defending quitters and pussies. Pussy.

Can you name me the last LSU player to drop from the first round due to a football injury? I’m sure there are some but can’t think of any

With the advances in medicine and reconstructive surgery, the risk an injury has on future earnings isn't really that substantial anymore like they once were. First round talents are still getting drafted in the first round despite sometimes very serious injuries sustained prior to the draft. Catastrophic situation like Marcus Lattimore are so unbelievably rare that they're barely worth discussing. A player is about as likely to suffer something off the field to derail their career as something that serious happening in a game.

What's happening is agents getting in these players' ears who care nothing about the colleges where these kids are playing. These kids are nothing more than a financial investment for them.

I don't always agree with Saban, but I 100% agree with him here:

quote:

“I don’t coach football afraid that people are going to get hurt,” he said. “Injuries are a part of the game. Injuries are a part of every sport. Tennis players get hurt. Tiger Woods got hurt. I don’t think you can live your life concerned about that when you’re an athlete and you’re trying to create value for yourself. I would tell every guy that you benefit more from going and playing really well than by not playing. If you play really well, that enhances your value.”

“The bigger the Playoff (becomes), the less important the bowl games are," Saban said on the SEC Network desk. “I think the biggest issue right now is players choosing not to play in bowl games. I mean, just a few years ago at LSU we went to the Sugar Bowl the second or third year I was there and we were like, ‘This is the greatest thing since slice bread.’ Now, you’ve got guys going to the Sugar Bowl and choosing not to play in the game.

"So, that’s not good. There’s … that’s not good."

"There's so many guys going out for the draft that aren’t getting drafted," Saban said. "Fifty-percent of the guys who go out for the draft are having failed careers. Developing is so important. Going to college to develop a career off the field, to prepare yourself for when you can’t play football.

"That used to always be the philosophy that everybody used to go to college with. But now, culturally, that’s all shifted and changed. Aight, so it’s, ‘How fast can I get to the NFL?’ There’s a lot of people out there promoting that and a lot of people are getting victimized because of it.”

“Look, I try to get guys to make business decisions about what they’re going to do,” Saban said Dec. 16. “I kind of get it if you’re a high first-round draft pick. The money versus how you can protect yourself and insure yourself may make a business decision that says the risk is not worth the reward of playing in the game.

“But if you’re not in that position, then you have an opportunity to showcase your talents and try to impress people with how you play in the game. That’s pretty much what I told those guys, and it’s their choice. Everybody has to live with sort of the consequences of their decisions, whether they’re good decisions or bad decisions.”

Myles Garret, as much as I can't stand him, said this when he decided to play in their bowl game, despite still being hurt
quote:

"It's just money," said Garrett, who hasn't yet officially said he's leaving for the NFL. "Relationships I make during this time or the impressions I'll make on people around me will last forever. Money will come and go."

Jaylon Smith, who tore his ACL and PCL, in the Orange Bowl
quote:

"Those freak types of accidents, injuries, they happen," Smith said. "But you don't go in the game thinking, 'Oh man, I'm going to get hurt.' That was my decision, and I love it. And I wouldn't change it. If I knew that I was going to get hurt and wasn't going to be a top-five pick again, I would have literally played in that game again because of my teammates and how much Notre Dame means to me."

"...So for me, I made the decision to play in that game, and I don't regret it at all. That's the beauty of any decision I've made, it's been my decision. If I had the decision again, I would have played in that game."

Avoiding injury is the main reason he is quitting, right? That or he wants to spend the next few months perfecting his forty-yard dash form to shave .001 seconds off his time. He's quitting to avoid injury and I hope it backfires on his pussy arse. Better yet, an arrest would be great. Leave the protection the team provides you and get burned. frick him and any other quitters and defenders of pussy arse quitters. I'm sure his future NFL team is going to love seeing his effort reduce if the team is down 28 or if they have a losing record for the season in order to "protect his millions."

I don't understand why Marshall just didn't quit last week instead of playing against A&M.

I still think he quit on his teammates but that's just my opinion.

Yeah, I'm tough for preaching loyalty over selfishness and quitting. And what the frick is a 20-year-old kid?! It's incredible that 18-20-year-old "kids" stick it out through much worse (military, police academies, fire academies) without the opportunities to make MILLIONS and you are sitting here defending a 20-year-old privileged grown-arse man who is quitting in the middle of a season. frick you, dude. You're the problem with society. Stay in your mommy's basement and never emerge for the sake of everyone else.

It is perfectly ok to be upset when a player opts out or leaves early and still be supportive of the player, wishing him the best in the future.

Hopes a 20 year old breaks his leg and I'm the problem with society?!?! Since when does taking care of your family make you selfish? Stop comparing athletes to soldiers because that's a terrible analogy. For the sake of mankind I really hope you don't reproduce, the thought of having others as idiotic as you is unbearable...pussy.
