He was the best opposite field hitter in college baseball his first two years.
It's his shoulder. He's having to cheat a bit and isn't able to let the ball travel like he used to. Labrum surgery is a bastard. He'll get stronger as the season goes on and be the Tommy Tanks we all know by the time it really matters. We just have to be patient with him while he continues to rehab and get stronger. Dude probably went longer without swinging this offseason than he has since the 1st time he picked up a bat.
I fricking LOVE Milam. Like I said earlier, dude just does not give up at bats. Ever. Incredible for a college player in general, even more so for a true freshman like 7 games into his college career.
