Best cornerback in the country as a true freshman last year, led the nation in ints and pass deflections. A huge part of being a good corner is being able to change direction quickly, he would get in and out of routes and be a phenomenal route runner, and his hands speak for themselves. The dude would/will be phenomenal at receiver next year.

It's going to be a long off-season of these threads. I bet Stingley plays almost the same amount of snaps at WR as Trindon played at DE.

Not saying he couldn't be a great WR, if he wanted to be. But he's not going to spend much time on offense at LSU.

Derek Stingley, Jr might be the best pure athlete I have ever seen in any sport.

If LSU needs Stingley to make an impact on offense this year they are seriously fricked up with the talent available at WR. If he plays offense it’s to make a Heisman run not because we need him. Next year? Maybe but not this one

Won’t it only be his junior year if he does go both ways?

I wish we had the returning Biletnikoff winner, a generational TE and several other 5* WRs coming back.

That would be really nice.

well,

unless someone changes their numbers,

Stingley and Curry cannot be on the field together...

His dad said on the radio..... only defense until is junior year. That was the agreement b/w he and O during the recruitment process.

Would he be more likely to get hurt at wide receiver than corner? And he is definitely going to play offense next year, Stingley with his lineage and abilities has high hopes for his college career. He could be the first defensive player to win the Heisman since Charles Woodson if he has the same defensive stats as last year combined with 6-7 receiving touchdowns.

This is a silly take, even if one admires Stingley’s enormous talent.
Tigers are stacked with WR’s having NFL talent, no shortage of speed, expertise and experience. Hard to see how Stingley has much impact there.
The only possible spot might be as a RB, but he is small and the risk of injury too great.

He will be fine, playing scared is almost always a bad idea. He will be electric at receiver.

Plenty of guys have played both ways, Eric Berry, Champ Bailey, the list goes on, sure fire way to show versatility and be a top 5 pick in the draft.

Right because a guy that weighs 155 playing D end is the same as Derek Stingley playing receiver. Especially since it’s confirmed that coach O promised Stingley would play offense in his recruitment.

A 20 year world class athlete won’t be more fatigued if he plays a couple of offensive possessions, plenty of great players have done it.

Lol it was a joke dude but seriously it’s a non topic to begin with coming from the mouth of Stingleys dad himself who said he wasn’t playing both ways until his Jr year
