Other than Berry who comes in for a limited relief role, Alsup has clearly been LSU's 2nd best pitcher this season behind McCune.

If pitching Alsup is an automatic loss, then that pretty much means LSU should lose every single SEC series from here on out.

True. Alsup's start last Sunday was fine. It was the defense that imploded behind him.

and to think 3 weeks ago the majority here were in the "has grewe proven you wrong yet? what he's done with these freshmen pitchers shows how good he truly is" crowd

Before this weekend I had never really had a strong opinion about Sanchez or Grewe before, but just wanted to give Mainieri the benefit of the doubt in making the hires.

Now I am getting pretty close to the point of thinking that Grewe has to go.

FWIW, Rooney and Godwin were having a pretty good season at UCF so far this year, but now look like they might get swept by Southern Miss in Orlando.

under grewe, pitchers haven't shown much improvement during the season and from season to season.

i've never really liked sanchez just because i think he's a horrible base coach. i don't think he's a great hitting coach, but i don't think he's bad either

hope we can figure something out and get it going

Having Grewe as a pitching coach means the kids are on their own.. no matter how good they when they come in sooner or later they need SOMEONE to help them. Its not coming from the dugout. Look at Tyler Jones performance,, Gausman- one of the top prospects in the country has been reduced to batting practice and he has not idea why. Players cant coach themselves and PM seems content to blame the players for his lack of backbone to get rid of Grewe last year.. now he suffers one more year. This pitching slide wont stop until LSU hires a REAL pitching coach.

I felt real comfortable with Rooney & Godwin as asssistants, but would have to agree in that the jury is out on Grewe and for that matter, Sanchez too...

If Alsup starts, which the paper says he will, today...LSU will lose...he is out of rthym on his pitches...sorry, that's just how I see it...
