I have a friend who has parkinsons, and it's pretty awful watching him degrade physically. He still works, but less than he used to. There are degrees of the illness and some people degrade more quickly than others. Don't know his situation but if he just found out about it, I am pretty sure he needs to step away from heavy responsibility.
And, I have a tremendous amount of respect for Coach Kragthorpe for stepping aside. I'm sure it wasn't an easy decision.

Pray for him and his family. The disease can be horrible!

the good news is that the offense can't be any worse than it was last year
Ummm.......yes it can.
I don't think it will though.

There are some who can coast with it a while, but many others who understandably can't. It is not a "one size fits all" condition. Prayers for the coach and his family. And for coach Stud and his new role.

I could only read the 1st 4 pages of this thread. Are the last 8 as filled with crybaby counts as the 1st 4? Jesus Christ, some of you fricking Sallies are embarrassing.
I don't know how much this actually matters for LSU for this season. Stud is more than qualified to call plays and Krags will still be working with the QBs--which is what most of us thought was the best thing he brought to the table anyway. It sucks horribly for him and his family. I hope he hangs in there until they find a cure. Damn terrible disease. Thoughts and prayers, Steve.

Wow went from an amazing off season to coach stud calling plays? Fml.

Miles echoed that sentiment, going even more in-depth on Kragthorpe’s evolving role.
“His involvement is every snap,” Miles said, responding to a reporter’s question. “It’s just there’s just a potential glitch in the health, and you don’t want to be in a spot where you need a specific call and have there be an unanticipated, but possible glitch in health.
KIND OF LIKE MILES CLOCK MGMT AT END OF GAMES

On a LSU note, oh shite, now what?
Get a OC. don't think stud is anywhere close to the answer.
1. Does K still get the pay of OC?
2. Need to get a real OC even if we have to let K go. Sorry about his health. What is the health problem and did he have it before coming to LSU. These Q's need answering.

Tell me how its good.
I never said it was "good." You said "frick your life." But I will offer that Stud was a pretty good OC at Bowling Green. Now, the ball is in your court to tell me why I should want to kill myself.

It probably already was fricked FWIW.

I don't get it, either he's healthy enough to coach or he's not. And if he is going to coach, then why not remain as OC? It's not like he's going to become part time now that he is just the QB coach.
Primarily focusing on coaching and improving quarterbacks requires much less responsibility and time than drawing up a full gameplan and calling it as the OC each and every week.
I currently work for a dentist who was diagnosed with PD 4 years ago and is still practicing despite the loss of muscle control. Considering the effects of the dz, it shows what people are capable of (precise hand movements in a tiny space) while handling this dz.
Saying that, I believe that Coach Krag will need some time to adjust to the medications and the side effects they bring (many of which help control muscle rigidity and shaking, and there is an effect with dopamine receptors in the brain). Some of the effects these meds include drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, low BP, confusion etc. You can imagine this could have a significant impact on a guy that has to be a high energy, big time college football coach day in and day out. I think that Coach Krags will be able to continue performing his job at a high level, but it will take some time to get the doses of medications to the right levels and for the Coach to adjust to handling the side effects, which may bring him down and cause him to feel sick occasionally. I think Coach Miles had to make sure that the OC duties where stable to begin practice, and that Coach Stud was the best man for the job.
As I read more today, I was encouraged by coach Stud's track record and I think it is great that we have a football program that can acquire position coaches with such impressive experience as they all do. You would think that between Coach Krag, Billy Gonzales (who we thought was going to turn the offense around last year), and Coach Stud that we will be able to come up with a strong gameplan each week and that the improvement of our quarterback play will put us in better situations to open up the playbook and make it easier on the OC (just being optimistic).
I trust the leadership of our program and am anxious for all of this off-season/pre-season news to slow down bc the last few weeks have continued to bring more worries about this upcoming season. Won't be long before we get to see what our team is made of against a "quality opponent". Hope tiger nation keeps faith in their team. Geaux tigahs.
Prayers for Coach Krag and his family. I wish him the best and that his prognosis is not severe at such a young age.

I was clearly exaggerating with the "fml" you've been here long enough to know that. With the way he coaches the line you'd think he's in no position to call plays.

Ouch, prayers sent for the family. There are some quality ex-head coaches out there without jobs. I was kinda looking forward to a new offense though.
