True Tiger and a fine OC. He had a depleted roster and played most of the season with 2 true freshman QBs. Still produces decent results. We saw last year what he can do with all the pieces in place. He will be missed.

He literally bleeds purple and gold. He needs to sty on staff as an ambassador because he loves LSU. but its definitely time for him to step aside coaching and calling plays.

I know they say he is staying on as an analyst but he is person #1 in CEO's inner circle and I am glad he is staying on in some capacity.

Who stressed the most? Entitled "fans" like you that ignored the realism of this year and constantly bitched.

Or Slinger?

Slinger

Never got this part though.

His best season was throwing for just over a 1,000 yards at 45% with a 5/8 TD/Int ratio.

He was good at handing the ball off to Alexander "The Great" though.

How old are you?

Do you have any idea what football was like back in the days that Slinger played?

When he played the prevailing opinion of the forward pass was best summarized by Darrell Royal, "When you throw the ball three things can happen and two of them are bad".

Woody Hayes coined that phrase, not Royal.

True

Sorry to derail the thread, but that was in LARGE part Brady's work. Most of those same pieces were in place in 2018 and the offense looked FAR different in 2018 than it did in 2019.

The bottom line is that Ensminger was a decent OC, but by no means great. Still, that shouldn't take away from any appreciation for him. He stepped in as a mid-season interim and performed admirably in 2016. Because of his loyalty to his alma mater he accepted the OC position in 2018 at the request of the HC, even though he was hesitant to take it. He recognized that his offense wasn't going to transform LSU and happily accepted help and new ideas from a young and totally unproven coach. That humility was probably the largest single reason (though not only reason) LSU had one of, if not the greatest season in CFB history. VERY few coaches would have set their ego and personal ambition aside to welcome a newcomer to come in and almost completely change the offensive philosophy. Ensminger did. He then stayed on in 2020 to provide continuity and continue the new offensive approach without Brady...and with almost completely new personnel.

For a guy who did not want to be the OC, he did not shy away from the challenge, grind and pressure that came with it for 3 years. He's now ready to go back to what he has wanted to be on staff...a position coach very much involved with the program. But not a guy who has to bear the tremendous work and pressure to essentially be the HC of the offense.

I wish people would look at Brady with clear eyes. First off, he is an NFL guy who came through the collegiate ranks to build his brand. Second, his success was in part due to the most elite collection of offensive talent to ever grace a college campus at the same time.

The idea that he’d come back, much less replicate 2019 success is wishful thinking

You don't pay attention to the NFL do you?

He's at an extreme talent deficit in the NFC South and is still competing. I say he's doing pretty damn good.

was at LSU with Ensminger, never heard anyone call him that until on the rant

Charlie Mac had a 2 qb system with "Slinger" and Woodley, and for the most part our offense, until their senior years was Charlie Alexander or three yards and a cloud of dust, both of them baws were pretty good qbs though

I'll agree with this post to some degree. Yes, 2019 was a lot of talent, but not so much that it made all the difference. Look at the year before without Brady, and this year after he left. You're not chalking up all that difference to talent. Sorry guys, to think O and E had much to do with last year is just hiding behind your purple and gold glasses.

I’ll never forget him coaching the semi after his daughter in law passed and his son was distraught. He’s a legend.

We average over 30 points per game and over 400+ yards of total offense with many freshman he did well

Really? My bad. I thought Woody was responsible for the term "three yards and a cloud of dust".

No matter, offenses like the Wishbone dominated football.
