Can someone please explain to me why in the blue frick we keep getting thrown out stealing 3rd with no outs.

You're already in scoring position and we have three chances to get him in. It's happened at least twice this weekend and its driving me crazy.

Basic baseball 101 don't make the first or last out at third or home.

Good power showing tonight this team is going to come around by SEC play and become a force.

There's no explanation, but LSU has been doing this during Coach's tenure.

Maybe to work on base stealing early so when we need to we can. The team is very young and needs to work on these skills for later in the year. I see nothing wrong when you've won the series and this early in the season.

But Friday night they tried to steal third base when the game was not in hand and it was not needed. Is it the new third base coach, the players, or Mainieri? It is a legitimate question.

Its a good question but it's early in the season .. They all probably have a green light. I think remember last year Bregman saying the better base stealers always had a green light last year. Maybe they are trying to see who will have the green light this year.

Part of learning how to steal bases is learning when to steal bases. That's just not the time and it damn sure doesn't need to become a habit. It drives me crazy. It's outright idiotic. Period.

I don't mind aggressiveness on the basepaths. Better than timidity.

I don't consider attempting to steal third with no outs as aggression. With one out? Sure that's aggression. With no outs? That's idiocy. The rewards don't outweigh the risks. Especially in a close game like Friday

my best guess is there are a few guys who are given the green light every pitch, it's up to them to time the pitcher and try to steal a base on him. If they think they can get it to for it. I agree going to third with no-outs doesn't make sense, but I think this is on the players not the coaches.

Based on CPM's reaction in the dugout Friday nite, I doubt he called for the steal. And no third base coach makes those calls for LSU. Leaving it the player's mistake & he got the message when he returned to the dug out.

imo you should never try to steal third with no outs. it can very well cost you the game and it damn near did Friday night. its really poor base running. I think there was a mix up in the signals today as I think the batter missed a hit and run and almost bunted but pulled the bat away.

cinci's catcher had a legit arm.

I believe that Maineiri said that 6 players always have a green light. Deichmann and Freeman are two of them. I imagine that both heard about their decision to run in the dugout, afterward.

I not a fan of stealing third base ever, really. Unless you can see a catcher clearly doesn't have the stuff. But when we're up by a bunch of runs and it's a meaningless type of game early in the season, let guys get some attempts if we can afford it, I guess.

How times did we hear that this team needs to manufacture runs this year. Now when they are aggressive people want to complain. thats a hard throw for most college catchers.

I agree. if the player has the speed to attempt a steal he has the speed to score from second. I just hope both attempts were mistakes by the player. I like being aggressive on the paths but not stupid.

it is also stupid to try to score from third when the ball is hit to the left side of the infield. there's less than 2 outs and it cost us today. did a number of times last year too.

We also have to factor in the new coach at 3B, Nolan Cain. He's learning the ropes as well.
