No...we were 1 year removed from a national title when miles took over
We coulda been a 1 and done, but Miles gave us another decade to establish ourselves as a year round top 10 team.
So definitely yes.

last 4 years of saban era- 23-9 in the SEC, 1 NC, 3 SEC titles, left miles with an insane number of talented players
last 4 years of miles era- 15-11 in the SEC, 0 NC, 0 SEC titles,
but some of you guys think the state of the program is better now?
That is the tale of the tape. Nothing else left to be said.
The other argument to the contrary are just YAW,YAW,YAW.
Take away the Saban/Jimbo effect on Miles first two teams and he would have been gone about eight years ago.

Last 4 years
We are 2nd in the west for SEC wins. Not where we want to be, but never thought being 2nd in the west was a failure.

I don't care about 10 win seasons when 3-4 of those wins each year
LSU is Top 3 for averaging 10 wins a seasons since 05 and NO other SEC program has even averaged 10 wins a yr. in that period. You don't think LSU being able to do something since 05 that no other SEC team was able to accomplish is a nice achievement for our program??? Is that because Nick couldn't do the same?
I wonder how many west titles LSU would have won since 05 if 3 L's would have won the west?
The SEC of 2000-2004 was much easier than the SEC since 05. If we cant even bring ourselves to admit that well known fact, we are lost.
I thank Nick for his efforts and would welcome him back, but acting like LSU was a pile of untalented ashes before his arrival is more than a little amusing. imo

Since Saban was only here 5 years we can only compare the last 5 years for both...unless you want to include some Dinardo and Hallman seasons which would not be fair to CLM. Let's also not forget Miles took over a winner!
Saban
8-4 finished unranked
10-3 SEC champs, #8
8-5 finished unranked
13-1 SEC & National Champs
9-3 #16
Miles
13-1 SEC champs, #2
10-3 #12
10-3 #14
8-5 unranked
9-3 #17
i will take the 5 years with 2 sec titles and 1 national title over the last 5 under les.

He leaves a program that won a NC 9 years ago and played for another NC 5 years ago (and got humiliated).
at the idea that this is some sort of knock against Miles. I can't believe there are people who would say something like this as if it is a problem.

with 2 sec titles
During a time when the division was as weak as it has ever been. 3 conferences losses and he still won the west in 2001.

"Let's not also forget"
While we not forgetting, the SEC Nick faced, 3 L west champs,, was not as difficult as the SEC Miles faced.
It's almost game day. Time to put both Nick and Miles behind us and look to the future.

It's time to move on...if Coach O can hold things together and especially this recruiting class, the future can be immediately very good for any new coach, who ever that turns out to be...

If we compared miles first 5 seasons I would give miles the edge.
