it's always interesting when you're in a suite watching both the delay on the field and the broadcast. Even after the commercials, the teams are standing there waiting and CBS is showing a Survivor promo followed by highlights from the 1974 game between the two teams, followed by Gary giving updates on his keys to the game.

This. While people are watching high def TV in their air conditioned living rooms with the beer in the ice box and the bathroom right there--we are all baking in the sun, for a lot of money. The games are being run for the TV crowd, so drops in attendance are expected, or should be. To see the future of the stadium experience you should go to the Cowboys stadium in Dallas. The 60 yard long TV gives as good a view from the high seats as the TV viewer gets, and it's used as a form of entertainment during the TV commercials.

I can only imagine the tasteless swill that would be served to appease this fanbase.

LSU should be fricking embarrassed that in he year 2013....the only way I can find out a score in Tiger Stadium of another game going on....is from the old bastard sitting next to me listening to the game on his 20 year old Walkman headphones he brought in.

Watching on tv is just a vastly superior experience now.

I think TV deals are the main reason for the decline in attendance (nationwide). I also think it will get worse before it gets better.

You can bet your arse that if there's a game worth a flip, it will be televised in glorious HD. That used to not be the case years ago. I think so many fans are more "tuned into" college football in general, and going to the game means you miss a lot of football on TV.

For everyone who keeps saying lsu won't implement any of these ideas due to increased costs, how is showing game breaks during some of the TV timeouts costing them a cent more? Hell they could get someone to sponsor it and generate even more revenue.

but for all the ranting on here put your money where your mouth is and contact the athletic department with your suggestions. If people gripe enough and are vocal we may get some of these things implemented.
This HAS to be done. Everybody is wasting time posting on here. Contact Jeaux Bleaux and tell him what you think. Contact the advertisers and tell them you will be boycotting their product or business as long as their tacky ads are crapping up the interior space in Tiger Stadium! You all are just whizzing in the wind if you don't contact the LSUAD!

I agree with all your points.

The live cut-ins to other games at UGA were pretty cool and helped the TV timeouts feel shorter. They also used their scoreboard for continuous stats & score updates and the sponsorships rotated in-and-out, so they didn't have to fill up the entire screen with advertisements. Our "scoreboard" is just a giant billboard, and it looks really tacky compared to how other schools use it.

LSU will sell ads for anything you can think of. I'm sure Jim Hawthorne's pre-game shite is sponsored by Izzo's

For me number 3 is the biggest problem. I used to get goose bumps at the games. The fans and the band were symbiotic. The students have to stop this. It's directly affecting the experience. The student government needs to step in and do something that someone actually hears about.
Also, the seats in the upper deck need to be greatly discounted. I had no problem sitting up there while I was in college but its not for everyone. For someone that has to drive several hours to go to a game I wouldn't sit in the upper deck. All the things you mentioned need to be considered other than alcohol.

Make it easier to purchase water. We shouldn't have to wait 15-20 minutes, even longer during timeouts, to get water. Can't understand why they didn't have people walking around selling water. Also, put some peolple in concessions that can do simple math without having to use a calculator. 6 waters at $3 a piece is $18. Give me $2 back when I give you a $20 bill. You shouldn't need a calculator to figure that out.

If that's the case then why isn't attendance an issue with the NFL?

This can't be said enough. Quit with the frozen Minute Maid crap and come out the stands with water.

I would have paid one of those vendors a 20 and told him to keep the change if I could have gotten a water during the game. Not that he would have gotten a whole lot of change...

3) Students need to get over themselves - One of the few advantages the stadium experience has over watching television is crowd interaction. The symbiotic relationship between the band and the crowd is what makes LSU special. If you make up vulgar lyrics to band songs, the songs stop and the interaction stops. Right, wrong or indifferent....that's just the way it is. Less interaction makes for a less enjoyable experience.

Goes along with some of the other threads about it but I agree. The students are supposed to be the heart of TS. They are supposed to lead the crowd (i.e. "L-S-U chant right after UGA's 90+ yard TD late in the 4th in 2003. Got the place right back up and rocking). They can do this with the traditional slightly vulgar "assholes" chants or "kick their arse". People across the stadium can and will even participate in that and those chants are not shoehorned into every little song that is played. But when you start stupid chants like STTDB, you are alienating yourself from the rest of the fanbase who now sees you as the immature, drunk, teenage cousin at a rehearsal dinner who just made a curse toast because bad words are funny.

I don't see how anyone could say watching on TV is a "better" experience. A lot of the time it's a much more convenient and maybe even more comfortable experience....but anyone who says it's "better" is just not much of a fan IMO.

while everything you put is true, they won't try as hard as you are wanting bc they are still selling tickets, they aren't losing money, its the season ticket holders that are absorbing these income loss

I agree they need to do more with the stadium. The other stuff is just

If you can't suffer the time commitment or other factors of a live game then you just shouldn't go. I think there are many who agree with you that continue to hold onto tickets that they should let open up for those who live for it.

I for one love the whole day and except for some obvious things like ( water, video board) there isn't anything else like being there. I've tried to convince myself otherwise but it's just the truth.

BTW Legends in NYC was the Bomb this weekend but I would have rather been at the game

One game a year, I think you are right. There is no way watching Alabama/LSU in your living room last year came remotely close to watching it in Death Valley. Texas A&M and LSU this year will be a similar experience.

The problem is the other 6 games. Somehow you have to convince the average fan that being in Tiger Stadium for UAB is better than watching it at home.

Get creative. Give the fan something they couldn't get if they stayed home. Do video features during the breaks that spotlight the LSU athlete. Do a "hidden talent" competition amongst the players during the tv breaks (one for each quarter)? Feature Freak Johnson singing his heart out vs. Seth Fruge doing a majic show. Have the fans vote on the winner in the 4th quarter. Do something other than watching Chevron cars racing or trivia questions!

Get creative and keep the fans interested
