To be fair, there was no mention of an airport until the third post of the thread. Not everyone memorizes airport codes for places they don't normally fly in and out of.

No, but there are certain airport codes that (mainly through the media) tend to be more widely known (JKF, LAX, etc.). I think SFO is generally one of those. Even if not, it takes all of a second or two to Google it.
