This may have been discusses but....

With college football set on letting championships be set up by people voting rather than playing the game on the field. does sportsmanship have to take a backseat at some situation.

Reason I ask in the 30 point loss to Fla. will be remembered at the end of the season is LSU is in a voting battle for a top spot. Last year the beat down we put on VT probably put us in the NC game.

Question is should we have went for the score at the end of the game? I personally don't think we should have b/c I'm not sure it would have mattered and I wouldn't like taking the chances of something bad happening, but I've heard a few people saying we need convincing wins to hide the Fla blowout. Still I think taking the knee was right, not b/c it was in good taste, but b/c the risk is 100 times higher than the reward. Your thoughts

imo at some point it does have to take a backseat. Other teams feelings< our shot to impress the polls.

Texas Tech head coach, Mike Leach put it best yesterday in an interview, "More is better than less, because some people are going to look at that. If you don't like it, stop it."

I agree 100%.

Sportsmanship>>>>>>adding another TD on the off chance that it gets us to the BCS after we win out this year.

i see it the other way around. any little chance we have of a bcs game or nc game we should help. I dont care about feelings when a nc is on the line.

if we had 2 losses already then fine take a knee

Why is a Texas Tech coach saying that? They haven't even made it to the damn BCS.

I agree that sportsmanship will have to take a backseat in order to impress voters. I heard so many people talking about how dominant USCw was Saturday because they scored so many on WSU. They ran up the score and got great recognition for it. Not once did anyone ever say that they were unsportsmanlike for doing it.

If we want to get into huge bowl games and the NC game, we definitely need to let sportsmanship take a back seat. Everybody knows that rankings are decided on scores for the most part. The voters do not have the time to watch every single game, or even the highlights to every single game. They will end up looking at the score and overview of the game and make a decision on where they place certain teams.

31-17 would have looked MUCH MUCH better than 24-17

That is all B.S. in our conference one loss gets us in unless two schools from BCS coferences win out.

I couldn't agree more. I think that besides the VT blowout last year, another major reason we jumped up was because our two losses were in 3OT. With the voters having so much control, margin of victory plays a huge role.

With all of the OOC losses around the conference, we can't depend on that as much this year.

What if we fumbled or worse a pick 6. Then its OT. Kneeling was the right call.

I hear U. I am worried that Penn State wins out. After Ohio St. this week they play nobody.

LSU running backs don't fumble, didn't you know that? lol

I agree it was the safer call to kneel, but can we afford to?

+1 We took our chances to 4th down to punch it in and were denied. If catastrophe ensued following a bad call on the last play in a game we had won, you think the "Dumb Miles" references are bad now...

Yes, in general, you should RUTS if you have the chance, considering the BCS.

BUT Saturday night was not that situation. We were only up a touchdown and the game was still in the balance. You should never risk losing in order to RUTS.

I really think we should have been taking a knee for the entire last series.
